Different Year 4th Gens, Different Rear Seat Folding?

Do different year 4th gens, have different rear seat folding techniques?

This is an 05 I found on Autotrader.

If you go where the rear seat picture is, it folds differently than the usual style Ive looked at.

Which models have this different way? I cannot buy one like this and I am trying to avoid even looking at this style because my ladder will not fit in this design.

No no. The second row. If it happens to have 3rd rows, I'm ripping them out. I dont even want them. I'm talking about how the second row folds. Its different than what Ive looked at it and it seems to be smaller length wise so I can put my junk back there.

My '03 requires to pivot the seat forward first and then drop the backrest down.

Yep. That's how Ive seen all the other ones.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think that's how the seats fold for the optional 3rd row seating.

Any 4runner without 3rd row seating should have the normal 2/1 split, fold-down seating in the 2nd row. I think the 3rd row is a fairly rare option, so hopefully it won't impact your selection greatly.

Hmm. That would seem to make sense. I looked at another 08 Yesterday and it had the normal version. I guess its only the optional 3rd rows. Yay Cheers for me!

The seats you see in the one pic, through the rear hatch, are the 3rd row seats. You can see how close they are to the rear hatch. I believe you can remove them, and you would then have the normal 2nd row seating arrangement.

Yep - the second rows fold down differently if you have the third row - the back folds down first because that's how kids get in the back It's annoying since I hardly use the third row now the kids are bigger.

The second row seats can recline on models with the third row option. The seat back is at a fixed angle for two row seating 4Runners.

This truck has 3rd row seats, and this is exactly how the 2nd row seats fold.
And Uneek is correct about reclining 2nd row seats.
