Differential Carrier Bearing failure after gear oil change????

Have a 97 4Runner 2WD V6 with 60k mileage. Had the transmission (WS A) and differential fluids (Castrol gear) changed at 53k. Within a couple 1000 miles the differential started to wine, now at 60k wining loud. Took to dealership, they said I need a differential carrier bearing assembly (~$1500). The truck had no unnormal wine before changing fluids. I mistakenly took it back to the same dealer that changed the fluids. They said the fluid level was good, oil good - don't know if they actually forgot to put fluid in after intially draining.

Causes? or just rotten luck. It seems with this low of mileage, no towing, no 4 wheeling - wife's truck - it should have lasted 200k

I assume this is not a past recall or in warranty (powertrain?)

differential gear lube change - LSD additive required????

talked to another dealer, they said that you must add an additive to the differential - it's for limited slip. How do I tell it's limited slip (V6 2WD)

fact or bullcrap?

could this be the cause of my differential bearing failure?
