Dirtyfingers' build thread..

I know I said I was going under the radar but something happend on the ship that I'm not so sure I should disclose but we can't go underway. As soon as I get back to the states and feeding my addiction to turn wrenches I'll get a sound clip posted up. Trust me I'll keep you guys posted, it pains me enough that I have to pregame haha. Makes it all the better that I'll be able to work on it when I get back. I'm just happy that my fiancé is okay with me being so...addicted. Haha. She's loving how the 4runner looks so far.

Congrats on getting PreMarried. Your build is coming along great, but yeah be patience with spending habits. Weld some 16-18 gauge metal straps around the jerry cans. Bend the tip so you can drill and lock. That's what I'm going to do when I get mine. Similar to pic.

I like that, looks pretty modest. Yeah she's is a car fan as much as I am, she has a 65 or 66 Chevy truck. It's very nice haha. As far as spending goes, I'm glad I have a budget, just kinda took an advance from myself so to speak. But it's going to be alright in the long run. Got what I need so this was the last big thing for awhile.

Okay so I have a problem. I know I know, everyone here that's been bit by the modding bug is having serious cases of wanting to make their trucks look good. But I had a big fat 150lb bug bite me today and need up dropping the hammer on a rear plate bumper from CBI OffRoad Fab. I really think that I might be going off the deep end buuuuuuuut I keep reassuring myself and my wallet that everything is going to be alright that was the last major purchase till the end of deployment. My mom is getting annoyed and threates to open up a parts shop in my room to get all the parts I've ordered out of the house haha. As soon as it comes in, I'll post pictures of the bumper and tire carrier. Anyone have any links for the Jerry cans? I got the double carrier option, also how do I go about securing them? I don't want to simply put a chain and lock on it, but I still want to keep honest people honest. I know how much Jerry cans can be. Thanks!

Yeah haha we dated in high school so we have known each other for a pretty long time. She makes plenty of her own money to do what she wants and likewise with me. As far as the exhaust goes I've always been around loud cars, my cuz had a camero that you could seriously hear from a half mile away. That thing...ohhh man.

I've already ordered it but I didn't see that there was a sale going on. doh! Haha live and learn. As always I want to thank you for helping me out!

Nice to see someone running cab lights! I was thinking of doing a 1st gen Silverado setup(like the new ones still use, solid center bar, and a single light on either side), I think it would look pretty badass! Know of anyone that's done that to a 4runner? And by the way, how did you wire those up? I don't really have a problem going through my roof, I just have no idea where you run the wires from there, like do you need to pull the headliner? Thanks in advance!

Nice! I was thinking about that set up with the bar light but it didn't quite fit the look for me. I wanted a super duty look, but I pulled these off a 92 2500, as far as wireing goes ill have to wait till I get back to the states to show you. But I can tell you that I used a 5amp inline fuse. It was pretty easy to set it up. Ill do a write up on how I wired it.

Alrighty, thanks! I appreciate it! By the way, here's my crappy quick mockup of mine with the bar light, looks alright I suppose, but then again, they always look different in actuality. I'm going to a Jeep Rally tomorrow at a place that deals primarily with Chevys, I'll see if he has any spare lights laying around so I could get an idea of what it looks like.

Yeah it looks alright I guess haha. Actually it looks really good on your white runner. I'd recommend getting a hole saw too because I did it with just a drill bit and...well it worked haha.

Looks like you got yourself a nice list of goodies! I too like the CBI bumper looking forward to seeing your progress!

It'll be like Christmas when you get back and have all your goodies to play with (and install).

CBI is worth the $$ - definitely quality gear.

Yeah I was going to go with shrockworks but they wanted too much for just one Jerry can mount.

Couple last updates but no pictures, I ended up biting the bullet and getting an airaid MIT. I was going to make my own for the ISR mod but I saw the airaid online for $46.99 and had to jump on it! Ended up coming in nicely pack so my mom said when I was on Skype with her haha. I also jumped up on LEDsupply and got some lights that I will be integrating into my bumpers...some how or another. I know it's starting to get nitpicky but I'm going to be coming home in...13 days, something like that so, modding begins soon and I can't wait to get this stuff installed. I'm sure you guys will understand. And open wide because there's going to be nothing but pictures.

HedgehogOutdoors here's a really rough draft of the diagram, I just drew it so its a basic way of what it should look like just for reference.

So it was weird, this thing showed up at my parents doorstep and wondered into my garage, I guess I have no choice but to add it to list of things to do! Pix for your viewing pleasure, and thank you CBI OffRoad Fab! Very helpful people to the end.
