One thing that I wanted to also suggest before you do anything to your paint is give restoring it a chance.

Doing it yourself is a lot of work but for $150 I bet you could find a shop that would professionally Clay, wax, polish, buff and Teflon the whole truck. It really is worth it. I do it to my truck every 3 years or so. I do hand wax and wipe about 3x a year but the pros are really good at their jobs and have equipment.

Okay, so, I got a couple of updates and teasers I guess. Kind of out of it right now went to visit the grandparents so with out further ado, I got my body lift

its coming along great man. how did you like working with the monstaliner? i saw that you decided not to go with the desert sand, i also like the red of yours a lot. quick question though, how big of a body lift did you put on? ive been wanting to do one for so long now but i was always scared of the gap with the 4xinnovations front. the gap there dosnt look bad. oh by the way i want the fj wheels so bad!

Haha yeah I got some paint for sale now if anyone is interested, right now it feels like my yoter is mooning everyone behind me so the back bumper is going on tomorrow, the gap isn't too bad I don't mind it actually, I got that bracket from i can't remember where but I ended up not putting it on, it's a 1 inch lift. I'd recommend soaking the body mounts in PB for a day if you want to fart around with it. They are the TRD wheels I got them from TRDpartsforu.com.

Also today some kid from my old highschool (he had the katy tigers logo on his truck) decided to try to race me today. We were both at the light and he started reving his engine up and I was like whatever, so I started reving mine too, but not as much as his and when the green light flashed he burns his rubber and I take off pretty normal like and as he's still going this cop pulled right out and pulled him over haha. Moral is, don't act like a kid.

It's a full inch actually haha. I kinda like the gap for Structual reasons. And the bumper is on, I had it welded on haha.

After much profane words and some beverages I finally got that damned carrier on. It may not be right but it's on and secured. Broke one of the spacers unfortunately.

After a nice little trip from Texas back to California I have this to say, whatever the speed limit is, don't go over 70, I noticed that pretty much 70 is the fastest I could go while maintaining about 18-20 mpgs. When I was going the limit which was 80 most of the way, my gas mileage suffered. I was around 9-10 mpgs. It really makes a difference, do you want to get there quickly? Or get there economically. Now I know what you're thinking, why say this if you're driving a 3rd gen? It isn't exactly the most fuel efficient vehicle. I'm saying this because I was running 285s and a 4 inch total lift. Just trying to be helpful. Anyways I have a few select pictures of the trip for your viewing pleasure.

Before I left San Antonio I had to see a buddy of mine, he's the one that got me into the 4running scene haha. Here is his truck.

Gotta love the United States. I know the cell doesn't quite capture the beauty, but it is there. There's nothing quite like this place and I am a part of a long line of people who have fought and died for this land. It is home. It's good to be back. One last pic.

So good news and bad news today. Bad news first of course, I took a look at my CVs a couple of days ago and saw that they have spun their last bit of fun, so it's time for some new ones. Though I must say that they lasted for 137k miles and died due to the boots and grease just drying out. So with that comes a few things that are getting fixed, not only will I be replacing those, but all sway bar links, ITEs, OTEs, LBJs and possibly a TBU...if money permits. Now the good news!

Today I took it to the hobby ship on base to do my sliders. Unfortunately the guy that helps weld left before I could get him to help me out. So I put the rear spacers on instead and figured out my horn issue that you all just now found out about. Haha, I installed the Cadillac big horns into the runner cause the meep meep wasn't cutting it for me. Anyways sorry about the ramble there, I saw with my little eye a 4runner that was black and decked out with a soran1.2, ARB, sliders and an elocker on her. I go over to they guy and talk to him about the forum and how he played in the rocks ect, ect, then I asked him what he was doing with his runner there, and to my amazement he said he needed to do an axle swap, he had a new axle, to him, he pulled off a runner at a salvage yard and that axle had an elocker as well, and he already knew what I was going to ask after that. So over the next few days I'm going to help him out with the swap and then discuss a price. So I'm soon going to have an elocker!!! Yay!

I'd recommend a reboot. Its cheaper if you get your hands dirty but even if you pay someone to do the reboot at least you will still have Toyota steel CVs.

I paid "The Truck Shop" (in Miramar) about $175 to reboot both the outer and inner on my drivers side. They used the Toyota reboot kit.

Most of that cost was labor. If you do it yourself you could probably do both sides for < $100 in parts for full Toyota reboot kits (outer and inner).

Oh it got hit by some lady and bent something in the axle, forgot to add that, but he said he's been driving it for two weeks after it happened, I'll post pictures whe we get it off and test the locker itself.
