Disable factory alarm?

Is there a way to permanently disable the factory alarm on my 97? The dang thing went off for like 5 min this morning because I locked it with my keyless entry last night and unlocked it with my regular key this morning. It's a pointless system anyway so can I just eliminate it??

I just clipped the wires to the speaker for now. No sure if its the same as yours tho. I plan to replace the whole mess with a remote start soon.

Remove the interior panel under the steering wheel. In the mess of wire there is a small black box. Near the black box, there will be two inline fuses. I pulled the fuses. My 97 4runner alarm was very touch and annoying. Pulling the fuses only stops the alarm for making noise. I still have to use the fob for the engine disengage. My engine disengage/alarm/automatic locking doors has me totally freaked out. I am scared to get out of the 4runner and shut the garage without worry of the doors locking behind me. I would like to disengage the engine disengage/alarm/automatic locking doors completely.

I tried using the instructions here to program the alarm to disable passive arming:
RS3000 Toyota Vehicle Intrusion Protection

But I wasn't able to get to the programming mode. Is this a factory alarm (it blinks with a blue light):


It has a button in the back of the led. Does anyone know what that button is for?

Also, I was able to program a 2nd remote using the instructions used for a factory alarm. Does that verify that I do have a factory alarm?

^ that does not look factory. Almost looks like a base control for a amp. Either way it’s not factory. And never seen a alarm use that.

OP I’m not sure how to disable or how to remove the factory alarm. The brains are under the seat. If you were to unplug the brains. The truck won’t start. So I’m not sure man. Have to dig into the harness.
