If you had an '00 4Runner you would not have to cut and hack...but since you have an '02, cut and hack is the only option.

You just need to cut Pin 12 - the Black/Yellow wire as seen here: 2002 4Runner: DRL Disable With On/Off Capability - YotaTech Forums
