Disabling TCS and Stability Control

Mod

This is great. I've been wanting to perform this mod, but was still waffling back and forth as to which method to employ. I just ordered a OBD2 to DB9 cable off Amazon for 6 bucks. We have a bunch of DB9 plugs and crimpers at work so I will likely just wire in a momentary switch for other side of the DB9. In fact I may get the factory switch, which conveniently enough now doesn't require modification or a relay to work as needed.

Switch

Well I finally rigged up my method of jumping the circuit with a switch. I purchased this OBD plug from Amazon which is just a OBD II to DB9. I checked the pin outs and even though the db9 has only 9 pins luckily 2 of those were 14, and 4.

I then made a male db9 plug using pins 1 (OBD pin 4), and 5 (OBD pin 14). See pic for db9 pinout.

I felt this was much easier than making an OBD plug. You can get a DB9 plug from amazon as well. You can just solder the wires with this instead of buying the pins for a OBD plug. We have a db9 crimper at work so I crimped them and then soldered for good measure.

I plan to solder on a momentary switch I bought at Radioshack for a few bucks.

What I really like about this setup was that I can detach it quite easily and leave it in my glove box and use only when needed. I haven't looked to see if there is enough room to zip tie it all up in there yet for a more permanent install.

Luckily all these mods are cheap to do. I figured this would work well if I was ever in a situation where ATRAC was fighting me. If I just want VSC off and ATRAC on I think the other mod would be better. It might be nice to have access to both.

I think it can work on the 06s but the pins are different. There might have been a post earlier in the thread where someone said which ones.
