I searched and could not find a thread devoted to discount sites so I decided to share some of my favorites.

I am a shop-o-holic. I love stuff. I want the best; I just don't want to pay for it. In fact, typically before I make a purchase, I research the heck out of it to find the best angle to get the most for my hard earned dollar. This behavior drives my wife insane, but at the end of the day, she knows that I got the best possible price.

As part of my occupation, I get a clothing allowance. I have found that by buying my favorite threads at these types of discount sites, I maximize what I am given. I get such good deals, that I rarely purchase clothes out of the household budget.

Below you will find some of MY favorite discount sites. Some sites are exclusive to government/military occupations, where others are open to the general public. Do you have a favorite site similar to these?

Site: The Clymb
Membership Qualifications: By Invitation
Cost: $0
About: The Clymb is a member only discount site that is free to join. They offer discounts from 35-50% (sometimes more) on all sorts of shoes, clothes, and outdoor gear. The Clymb is a Woot-style site that showcases certain types of items grouped by brand, or type of item, that is on sale anywhere from three days to a week.

Note: I know this is a little bit of a departure from the other brands listed here but these make great gifts for the better half and who doesn't like a +50% discount on anything.

I've used 3point5 when I worked for an outdoors store, it was great. Very similar to ProMotive (they even have a ProMotive 'Team' so joining 3.5 gets you a ProMotive membership) but seemed to have more brands that I liked. Unfortunately I lost that discount when I quit working there. Now I use woot and steepandcheap, but no membership sites.

Anyway thanks for the invitations, I used a couple of them.

We have used 3point5 as well. Promotive was sort of born out of 3point5 from what I can tell. I used to have a couple individual 3point5 discounts (the north face, etc) and each had its own site and log in etc. It looks like they used promotive to consolidate them into teams under one roof.

Actually, many federal employees are eligible for discounts at US Standard Issue.

I have used 3point5 and promotive. I am on the Clymb but haven't bought anything yet. You can also get good deals during the clearance sales for Patagonia and First Ascent if you buy that kind of gear.

I may need to check out the Coach one, my wife likes their stuff and a discount is nice.

Its crazy how hard companies are trying to be competitive by pricing direct these days.

I've found the best prices for some flights by going directly through Southwest or Hawaiian Airlines.

If you want a deal check out REIs super sale going on right now. I just spent way to much because of their sale.

I'll use Steep & Cheap and have bought some stuff on the Clymb before. Problem with the Clymb is their shipping time sucks and it's at least $7 no matter how small the item is, so it's really only a good deal on higher priced items.
