Discount Tire sales, etc.?

Hey all,

Just pulled the trigger on some new SCS Ray 10's and I'm hoping to pick up a new set of 285/70 Duratracs (LR D). I used to wait to buy tires for the eBay sale that Discount used to do, but since that's done I'm at a bit of a loss as to when to buy now so I don't pay full price. Anyone have any insight in to when their best deals are?

The reason I want to get them from Discount is because the Duratracs are a fickle bunch, and buying from somewhere without their satisfaction guarantee is a non-starter. If it's out of round, won't balance, etc, I heave them back through the glass like the little old lady in the commercials.

Thanks!

July 4? Then Labor Day. They usually have 75 off "better" labeled tires and 100 off "best" labeled tires. I plan on Labor Day for a set for our other vehicle.

They will also match various other sellers so if someone else is running a promotion then that can help too.

Lastly, maybe look for a combination of said 75-100 DT discount and a manufacturer's rebate though I am not sure if those ever coincide.

Nice! Definitely good to know that worst case scenario is I wait a month. I spotted that SimpleTire was doing 10% off on Goodyear, so they're $845 shipped. I'm going to call around and ask if DT can get me out the door for $900 and we'll see. I'm planning on selling my used tires anyway on CL for cheap, so that'll help offset the cost a bit.

I mean you will want to maybe call your local DT to verify they will run a Jul 4 sale. I don't normally shop around July 4 so I am mostly guessing basing myself on the fact that they run this kind of sale on the major holidays. That's why I put a question mark.

But yeah, there should be a way to get at least something off list prices.

DT has changed their promotions recently so rebates are now a percentage of your total versus a set amount like $75 or $100.

In the old days, there were some good deals to be had; not quite as good these days. YMMV.

DT customer service is top notch and I do not why you'd buy online if there is a DT/AT in your area, but it is going to cost you a little more now.

Good luck,

Eddie

I completely agree. I only buy questionable tires (like Duratracs) from local Discount Tires. I was using the online seller as an example of a price I would ask them to match, but being ok with them going slightly higher since I'm willing to pay extra for their service and satisfaction guarantee.
