so...if anyone has bought new wheels and tires lately....I would not advise price checking on discounttiredirect right now. you will make yourself sick once you see what you could have paid if you ordered it all through them this week. After combing current Goodyear and Discounttire rebates, I could have spent a mere $1200 (installed) for my Level 8 MK6 wheels and 285 Duratracs....:hurt:

I bought cooper's and a month after, they were giving $150 rebates and they wouldn't honor it. Since they were installed and couldn't ship them back, I just took it in the rear.

hmm the km2s are still listed at more on discounttiresdirect.com than on the normal discounttires.com by $24 per tire. Weird.

I hear ya.. I went through this last year out:
I bought cooper's and a month after, they were giving $150 rebates and they wouldn't honor it. Since they were installed and couldn't ship them back, I just took it in the rear.

What did you spend?

$1132 installed for the Duratracs....then got a $120 prepaid visa, and I am still waiting on a $40 I sent in for through my wife's employer

$545 minus the $50 they just agreed to credit me :boink: for the MK6s, I think about $80 for the install (swapping over my Duratracs and transferring the TPMS)

So, after all rebates, discounts, credits and install considered....$1550 (almost $1600 if my other $40 rebate doesn't come!)

Depending on the time of year and what rebates are going on, you can easily pay over $1200 just for the tires!

For that kind of savings, I would have gotten the 17x9 w/ -12mm offset and sprung for the LR UCAs!!!! :ybrick:

They will match each other's pricing, they did for me anyway.

Yea that sucks.. Sometimes it is just not meant to be. Plus, tires aren't one of those things you can wait around for, for a long time. When they need to be swapped, it's a safety issue.

I had stock tires with 25k miles on them....some may argue that was a safety issue, but I could have certainly waited 3 more months had I known about the savings. Oh well...maybe one of these days I will learn to stop being impatient and jumping the gun to buy things :decision:. It would certainly alleviate the amount of time my wife gets to say "I told you so" :redbrick: I thought I was doing good just because I saved up the cash to pay for it. A few years ago I would have just charged it...and then been more pissed. Oh well...I shall move forward. Hindsight is always 20-20
