Display Light and Rear Brake Light

I never did unplug the unit. Once I figured out it was an LED and not a bulb, I just re-installed the thing without fixing it yet. I have read that the plug is either further inside the spoiler or into the actual barn door (but I would suggest you research further before taking it apart).

Before you buy anything, you should really unplug it and test the LEDs by supplying it with 12V and verifying that it doesn't illuminate. I only say that because you might have a wiring issue that is preventing the LEDs from illuminating. LEDs should outlast the vehicle itself. I'm not saying it is impossible for an LED to fail, but it is unusual, especially if it's a quality LED.

BTW, does the spoiler use a series of LEDs in a row, or is it a single LED?

LOL, I just cut the two wires and will patch em back together when I re install mine. Thanks for the input, I figured the wire and clip were somewhere in the hatch, didn't feel like spending time fishing around for it.

The easiest way to test it would be to use your 4Runner's battery as the power source. If you pull it out of the spoiler, just take two wires and use them as jumpers to supply power and ground to the LED connector. You have to have the polarity correct for it to illuminate, so try reversing the wires if it doesn't work on the first shot. If you try it both ways and it doesn't illuminate, I guess you're right about the LEDs being dead.

wellington, I got all my lights tinted, thats why I needed to remove it.
