I am thinking of building a set of bumpers for my first gen. I am going to plasma or water jet the parts and am liking the Falken Jeep Bumpers on their new rig. Just a straight tube with a stinger and it covers about 75 % of the front. I have access to the 14 ft jet and also at another buddies shop a full very nice machine shop that can handle parts to 12 feet. I am going to Zinc flame and Epoxy paint the bumpers when done. I know tube is popular but I am not a fan of the look really. Is there a down side to using plate steel besides weight? The other bummer is I can't think if how to protect the sides behind the wheels and make it look right. On the tire carrier is the AZ Fab kit the one to use? I am burning up favors and learning as I go so not wanting to machine the sleeves and bearings etc.

I don't hear anything bad about AtoZ Fab. I've gotten all my parts from Comp4x4 and they've been great.
Thanks I will check out Comp 4x4 as well. I hear people say they can fail so I want to make sure I build it right. I will run all of my designs by our Mechanical Engineers to bless before I start them and my friend doing the welding qualifies teams to weld hanging upside down from a crane welding stainless tabs on granite cladding. I watched a team try and get hired once. They failed because one weld out of their whole test had a tiny air bubble in it. I just hope I can learn from these guys because I know little about welding and would like to learn.
