Diy timing at 175k / cam & crank seals ?

So I've looked through the timing post here and watched the video a few times and I'm pretty sure I can do the work, however I want to do the cam and crank seals while I'm doing everything else and I can't find much on the procedure other than the pages from the fsm which aren't very helpful.

From anyone who has done this already, is it pretty straight forward? Is there a guide pin that puts the cam pulley in the correct place or is it only tensioned by the bolt? Just trying to arm myself with as much knowledge as I can before undertaking this challenge. This is for the non vvti v8.
If anyone is in the Tucson area and would want to guide me I'd be more than willing to compensate with beer food and or money.
Thanks t4rs!

Eh, honestly they almost never leak on the Non-VVTi 2UZ-FEs from what I and other coworkers have noted. It's the VVTi ones that seem to leak after about 100~150k occasionally.

You should be able to replace them by pulling the cam gear and crank gear if you want. Honestly you'll probably see that they aren't leaking even at 175k. BUT, if you have the spare money it wouldn't hurt to get the seals and do it while you're in there (Honestly when my next T-Belt is due at 200k I'll probably do the same even if they aren't leaking for peace of mind.)

Non vvt-i here and just did my tbelt job recently. I was about to replace those seals too but the crank seal is cleanly dry and i couldn't remove the cam sprocket bolt for dear life (didn't have an impact gun). So I skipped it. Oh well if it aint broke.

So to inspect the cam seals do I also have to remove the gear or just look behind it. I've got almost everything apart now. I don't see any seepage below the gear on either side and the Aisin kits don't come with seals. so thinking I might just leave em but I am curious how to properly inspect.

Pic included of right side cam gear.

I've got the V8 VVTi and would also like to know. I haven't ordered the Cam or Crank seals. My AISIN kit and other stuff should all be here by Monday.

I've got 116k on my '05 Sport
