Do 15in wheels fit on 2000 Limited?

Forgive me if this information is out there in a thread already. I tried searching and couldn't find an answer.

Can I fit 15in wheels on my 2000 Limited?

Specifically I am wondering if these wheels, for which I do not know the name (3 Spoke? Split 3 Spoke? 6 Spoke? Double Y?), in the 15" size will fit on my 4runner.

The same style were available in 16" on my 2000 Limited, but I have a source for 15" rims and wouldn't mind the extra meat in the wheel wells, but that won't help me much if the wheels don't fit over the calipers.

If the 15in wheels do fit, what tire size should I use. I am running 265/75R16's now. The previous owner ran 285/75R16s and I've been debating returning to that size. I am looking for a tire with close to OEM width. Wider tires mean more flotation which is good in the mud and rock but bad in the rain and snow on the highway. I want a tire that is both good at 70mph on the highway in the rain and snow and driving down logging and class 6 roads where there will be mud, ruts, rocks, and logs for obstacles.

You can run that style 15" wheel with wheel spacers in the front to make them fit over the brakes. I think you might be able to get away with 1.25" spacers, but most people get 1.5".

I would get some nice 33x10.50 KO2s!

If it's not a DD, get some 34x9.50 super swampers :zoom:

I didn't even know the split spokes came in 15"s. Can't really answer your question but werent these trucks shipped to the docks on 15" wheels?

It is a DD, so no swampers. I also can't stand the KO2s or any BFG AT tire. The horizontal (latitudinal) nature of the tread works decently off road or in mud as bars to pull the vehicle forward, but also cause hydroplaning in the water or snow at speed. If I was ok with that, I'd run MTs.

The General Grabber AT2 has a very similar tread pattern, looks almost identical on the vehicle, but has gaps that run longitudinally rather than latitudinally. These are what I'm running now.

IMO, Goodyear Wrangler AT/S are some of the best designed AT tires ever made, primarily because they have two longitudinal gaps that run the length of the tire and prevent hydroplaning. Unfortunately they've been phased out of production for all but a few sizes, and even when they were available they were way more expensive. Yokohama Geolander AT-S and Kumho Road Venture AT51 have similar attempts at road-friendliness, but are less good off road. Still, I might try the Kumhos this time around.
