I had stock Dunlop AT20 and Goodyear Ultraterrains. Both tires gave the steering wheel shakes. The BFG KO2 gives no shakes but some buzzing which is still much better than before.
Suspension is still all stock.
Do any KDSS (or susp. upgraded) owners have steering wheel vibration? Please Respond!

I wonder if people with other years can remove their air bag and check. It is held in place by only 2 torx screws.

Did not read this entire tread but when I installed my OEM cross bars on my roof rack I immediately got steering wheel vibration at highway speeds. I plan on removing them soon.
New to the forum, first post. Looking to purchase a 2019 Limited for a cross country trip and wherever after that. Worked for the big three in powertrain, worked in the off-road transmission and axle business.
This stuff happens. I’ve seen models shipped with lead wrapped steering columns to conceal the vibration. Much like a steering dampener “fix”. A lot could cause a vibration. But, I’ve read this has been going on for near 15 years with the same widespread fixes and, often no resolution. This I have never seen. The problems get fixed, usually during the first year of production.
It’s discussed at times as a right of passage to 4Runner ownership. How widespread is this issue? I’ll be spending a lot of time on highways, probably often in the 60 - 70 mph range. And I’m certainly not inclined to spend my life at dealers along the way. I’ve owned Cherokee's and GC's along with 30 years of driving German cars. I'm quite familiar with spending time at dealers and Lemon Law settlements. I’m buying a Toyota first and foremost for reliability. As in no unscheduled stops due to the vehicle. Is this vibration issue something that I should pretty much count on?
