Do different 4runners have different size rear axle shafts?

hey guys, im just going to go ahead and revive this thread.. i recently had an accident in my 4runner that broke off the right axle shaft at the wheel. now, i dont know if its only necessary to change the shaft, or if my housing got bent. even the shock mount broke off. is it possible that the shaft can break without the housing getting bent? ive been looking for the whole axle assembly but no luck.... any ideas?

Sourcing Correct Rear Axle Shaft?

Greetings-
I'm trying to source a replacement rear axle shaft for my 01 T4R. So far I've purchased one from two different on-line vendors and both shipped me the same wrong part. What I received was a longer 27 spline shaft with a pre-mounted tone ring that was way too large to fit into the housing. I'm a bit concerned that I got the same wrong part from two difference sources and manufacturers. Their web description and photo was correct for the part required, but they sent something totally different.
Has anyone else experienced this??
How do I source the correct part??

A pre-mounted tone ring doesn't even make sense for the 8" rear as the backing plate, bearing housing and bearing all need to be pressed on before the tone ring. What brand of axle did you buy? I'm just curious.

I'm talking about the OEM axle shaft mentioned earlier in this thread. I know all about you Mr. "Diamond"! LOL
