Do I need a dual battery setup?

I'm afraid my stock alternator isn't going to keep up with the demands I'm about to put on it.

I already have:
1). 37" LED lightbar (26 amps),
2). Hella 500 fog lights (about 10 amps for the pair),
3). couple 6" LED bars for backup lighting (3 amps for the pair),
4). and several small LED rock lights

I just bought an Engo 10K winch. Is upgrading to the Cadillac alternator going to be enough with my single Duracell auto battery or am I going to have to look at a dual battery set up?

You will be fine with the stock battery and the alternator. Assuming the Alternator is good shape.

The stock set up pushes 85 amps and your need (except for the winch) is far from that.


The winch needs like 400 amps so no alternator at there will keep up with a demand from a winch. But your Battery is rated for like 800 cold cranking amps so it has enough reserve to run the winch.

if you ever have to do any heavy winching at night...you'll wish you had a second battery.

but, for normal use, you wont need it.


i have dual blue tops in my truck, but, since i dont wheel as much as i used to, my 2nd battery is in my kids powerwheels jeep.
