Yes you need dual batteries. You also need Icon Stage 7 suspension, onboard air, a roof top tent, an ARB fridge and a 400lb set of drawers.

Now thanks to countless hours researching and reading through all of the wealth of info from the senior members on here I consider myself to now at least to have a working knowledge of my vehicle (hence why all of my write-ups and threads are titled “mods for dummies”).
My final .02 to this rant is that you will get out of this forum what you are willing to put in...kind of like life.

Well said and thank you for your service (teaching) - A critical role in society that parents unfortunally seem to have less and less interest in and are passing that responsibility to cellphones and the school systems.

Well that's one way to look at it lol. Or is it the other way around? Looking at a dual battery setup because you want an ARB fridge?

I was joking. And serious.

I like the idea of having a second battery for the following reasons:

1. I can play the stereo, run lights, or whatever on a deep cycle battery without worrying about my starter battery. Sure, the odds of ruining the starter battery is low, but why bother?

2. It’d be fun to build. Plain and simple.

3. Extra power is extra power.

4. Backup jumper battery. (I cringe when people ask me to jump their crappy car they don’t maintain. I’d rather sacrifice a battery I technically don’t need than the one I do need).

5. A fridge sounds cool for long family trips.

6. Camping would be more fun if I could run exterior lights from a roof rack or backup led lights.

7. I can build street cred on this site.

an old thread but I'll add to the list of people who might need a double battery setup are Ham radio operators. A typical mobile unit at 50watts can suck a starter battery down very quickly. Another might be the roof top tent people running a heater all night long (yeah I know its probably propane but the ignitor an fan are electric). Another might be someone running the bigger Viair that necessitates a direct battery hook-up and is airing up and down frequently.
