Exactly. Couldn't be a more perfect example. That entire situation could of ended very differently if someone else was carrying a gun.

Actually at least two men in the crowd were armed with conceal weapons. They drew their guns and one almost shot the other. Link is forthcoming.
When the cops show up to a mass shooting, they will likely shoot whoever has a gun drawn in public.
Yes I agree that .0001% is an exaggeration but I truly believe that 99% of Americans do not take a loaded pistol with them everywhere they go.

I was actually going to post this information.
I can forsee your line of logic translated with my secret decoder ring: "Let's make it so nobody but the murderer has a firearm so that way the murderer gets to decide when he's done murdering so that way there's no possibility of someone being hurt by anyone except the murderer."
Bottom line, was anyone else hurt by anyone except for the murderer? What if's are great but the rest of us have to live in a world where things go bad and there are hazards everywhere you turn. Nothing like this is textbook, nothing like this is absolutely clean.

Now this is getting silly. Show me the case studies where LEOs descend on a "mass shooting" where "they will likely shoot whoever has a gun drawn in public."? Every situation I've looked at and the ones I've hear about first or second hand show clear evidence that the responding LEOs NEVER roll in guns ablazing. The impression I have is that they are downright methodical in making sure lethal force is only applied to someone who is presenting a credible threat to themselves or others.
I've had to draw from concealment one time and I was the one who called law enforcement. Seven minutes later when they arrived I already had plenty of time to holster my weapon, pull my ID and CCW permit from my wallet and even walk the officer towards my location via the dispacher via cell phone.

Hey guys I never said I am against concealed weapons permits or that the fed should ban them.
I simply said it isn't necessary for a person to carry a weapon with him everywhere he goes.
If you are that afraid then go ahead, get a permit and exercise your rights.

I get most of the examples, but I think what criminals are the most afraid of is to lose control of a situation.
In case of a robbery or minor crime, if the guy points a gun at you, last thing you want to do is reach for yours... He will want to shoot you to make sure he's not the one killed. So a minor crime (lost of money usually) turns into a homocide.
Both have valid arguments, reasonnable people will use their weapon only under extreme cicumstances. Problem is there are not only reasonnable people. And the fact someone's ok one day doesn't mean he will stay saine all his life.
I travel a lot in the US for my job, and I always had a great experience with people and enjoy talking to see the different point of views throughout the country on many subjects. We tend to forget that people from Canada are not much more different than someone from Boston is from Miami, Houston or Des Moines. We can't generalize how people are in Canada or in the US, both are huge countries. Look at Europe, dozens of country on a smaller land.
I never felt threatened in any way. But there was a common factor: when watching the news, they present it so you feel this is the last day on earth, always a ''breaking news''. The coverage looks like what I saw on 9/11 here in Quebec. I remember feeling like WW3 was about to happen. The coverage was done in a way to show the gravity of the situation. I feel like the way news are presented (today, not on 9/11) are not appripriate, they want to make you react to keep your attention.
Too much of that and it is normal to become afraid to be the next victim.

The last time I went looking for statistics on this, those who resisted with a firearm were less likely to be injured than those who resisted without a firearm, or those who did not resist.
If someone is pointing a gun at you, you really don't know what they have in mind. Maybe they just want your money. Or maybe they want more.
The most important thing is to be aware of your surroundings and the people around you. If you can see the threat coming you have more and better options. And if the perp sees that you have seen him coming, he may well decide to go after an easier target.

I do drive with a gun by my side...its concealed in a nice little pouch attached to the side of my console...my weapon of choice for my ride is a taurus .380..."lil bit" as i like to call it...never had to use it...but i wudnt b caught in my ride w/o it!..besides imma girl...it makes sense to carry especially since i get off work at night alot... and yes my hubby takes me to the range...so i do know how to properly use it...

If I knew when and where I would need my handgun, then I wouldn't go there.
Unfortunately, my crystal ball is on the fritz. And even though I do everything I can to stay away from stupid people, stupid places, and stupid things, sometimes evil men come to you, even in very safe suburbs.
I don't expect to ever have to use my gun against someone and I hope I go to my grave never having used it against someone. But I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

The news is horrible. It subconsciously puts fear into the masses
What about evil women? What if a nice blonde in a bikini comes walking towards you and while your dazed with her beauty shes pulls out a little gun that was concealed (somewhere) and shoots you. OR Plan B, while your dazed with her beauty her boyfriend pops out of a bush and shots you. Either way watch out for those evil women too.
