This law requires that concealed carry licensees be 21 years of age or older, have clean criminal/mental health records, and complete a firearms safety/training course. As of July 31, 2010, Florida has issued 1,825,143 permits and has 746,430 active licensees,[105] constituting roughly 5.4% of the state's population that is 21 years of age or older. Since the outset of the Florida right-to-carry law, the Florida murder rate has averaged 36% lower than it was before the law took effect, while the U.S. murder rate has averaged 15% lower. From the outset of the Florida right-to-carry law through July 31, 2010, Florida has revoked 5,674 or 0.3% of all issued permits. Of these:
522 permits were revoked for crimes committed prior to licensure
4,955 permits were revoked for crimes committed after licensure, of which 168 involved the usage of a firearm.
Gun Control - Just Facts
Something to add to this, in Florida, you do not need any license to carry a loaded weapon in your truck or car. You do not register weapons, you can keep them in your house, loaded, no locks, ready to go. Most of my friends don't have a license, cause they don't want or need one. They do carry in their trucks and cars, my family all carry in the vehicles, my sister took the concealed class and carries a .357 in her purse, as well as one under the seat. Her daughter who is 4, already shoots at the range with me and her dad and both her grandfathers. I was in the military, trained, LEO academy, trained, civilian working over seas, trained, armed security, trained, travel all over the state, staying in SoFLA for school for work, don't know anyone, go to the range, train. I would say the facts prove, Florida is much safer with guns, then without. I have seen statistics that have said there are more guns in Florida then in Texas. Much of our violent crime has been reduced to criminal on criminal crime. Who wants to break into a house here? Or hold my sister up? She fires six shots from a revolver at 25 yards all hitting within 3" of the bullseye, rapid fire. She is 5'2" and her kickboxing would knock a grown man out( i was wearing the redman gear when she did it, I'm 6'2", 214lbs).

He told me not to get rid of my guns but also don't do anything stupid with em. At home there in safes with quick access. You never know if you need one. IMO.
