I carry with me everywhere I go. A friend of mine was supposed to have a business meeting with a client of his but for some reason he was called to another client's office.
The place he was supposed to go to had a disgruntled employee show up and walk into the office and open fire killing the owner of the company (his client) and a UPS driver that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
This friend of mine ALWAYS carries. If he were there and didn't have his weapon he most likely would have been killed. If he were there and had his weapon he could have possibly prevented some of the tragedy.
The world is full of many mentally ill people. It's better to be prepared and protected as much as possible.

I had someone try to rob me at a red light about 20 years ago, he had a gun, I didn't. Hit him with the truck door and run the light. Don't leave the house anymore without one. Gettin too old for the hero stuff
Shield 9mm on my ankle, Glock 32 in my center console so I can shoot the fu*ker throughout the door or the window if I have to. I was thinking about handcuffs, and a 3 foot dildo to mentally destroy the person after I shot him for putting me and my family in danger but the judicial system would probably not favor my actions so I just have 2 guns.

Carry a gun?
Usually not - only when I am headed to and from the target range or hunting. The only time I have been in situations where I needed a firearm was in combat, while in the Army. OK, once when I was a kid someone tried to break into my folks house, and a shot out the back door over their head solved that problem for as long as we lived there.

Have a small Gerber fixed blade in the door, a benchmade folder in the center console, and a navy k bar in the cruise box in the back. Cali frowns upon a cc. And the navy frowns upon me bringing them onboard the installation.

I carry. But I also carry 10 years of Aikido training and a few years of Krav Maga as well.
If it's fisticuffs they want,,it's a complex fracture of a limb they will get,,if there is ANY signs of a weapon..it's buckwheats for them.
Just being trained in some sort of martial art helps you to be comfortable with engaging an adversary. Most people lose those precious few seconds to excitement and confusion in the beginning of a squabble.
I'm a "ninjas are on the front lawn" kind of guy anyway...always hyper-vigiliant especially when my queen is in the equation.
Not playing into road ragers is a key tho. That shit ain't worth it. Just let them carry on...god protects the dumb.

I've read quite a few posts on this thread and I don't understand the guys who think carrying a knife is a good idea. Not for self defense at least >>> Knife fighting is for Hollywood. Its a nasty business and unless you are a fictional character like Batman, you are 90% likely to end up with at least a cut of your own <this is assuming your assailant is also armed with a knife>. Anyone who does NOT have a knife and still confronts you (with your knife) should still cause you grave concern. He/She is either under the influence of drugs or believes that they can disarm you and use your own weapon on you.
I carry a gun wherever possible. I'm a CWP (Concealed Weapon Permit) holder in VA, but since I travel to DC and MD quite often I have to leave my gun at home on many occasions.
For those of you who disagree with this stance and think that the world would be better off with "fewer guns" please let me explain my perspective. First and foremost, my weapon is only with me as a LAST OPTION after ALL NEGOTIATION AND MITIGATION has failed. I would never in a thousand years use my weapon in a state of rage. I'm a pretty stable minded person to begin with but, think about it. I've got alot to lose if I do something dumb with my gun. CWP holders are the people you should be THE LEAST concerned about. They are the individuals who have been trained to use a gun. More importantly, they are made aware of the risks involved in the use of a gun IN ANY SITUATION. Granted, there are always bad apples in the bunch, but all of my friends who carry concealed have my 100% absolute faith and trust. They are solid shooters who are always vigilant and ready.
And for those of you who think there are "too many guns in America," I would urge you to imagine an America where only the Federal Government and criminals have guns. If you honestly think that there will EVER be a day where criminals will not have access to firearms you are a fool.
