Do you like running boards.....

I have the OEM stock running boards. I don’t mind them and the wife needs them. They work well for washing the roof, loading the rack, and serve to deflect some dirt and mud from the front wheels. I don’t do any hard core rock climbing so they don’t get in my way.
Just wondering if you’re concerned about the possibility of the N-Fabs getting caught on rocks or branches when off road.

I don't rock crawl, these are steps not sliders. I don't pretend that they're rock sliders

I changed my stock running boards out for the N-Fab steps, I love them. They came stock on TRD Pros for a few years. I love the look and use them all the time.

I love the look of them but hate the functionality. I find the steps too far forward to be functional in the wet/snow especially in closer quarters like tighter parking lots.

The steps require you to apply forward pressure when in tighter quarters so it makes it turbo easy to slip.

I'm removing them this week in favor of the tyger steps which I've had sprayed with rhino liner. I think I'd get much better friction if I rhino lined the nfabs from the get go. At this point, I'd have to remove them, media spray them, and then get them rhino lined which is a PITA. Maybe I'll keep em as backus or something.

Another option are the steps that drop down and retract. My friend had them on his Tundra. Not sure if they make them for a 4runner though.

Just order the '19 model year, it's not any different. They fit my '20 just fine.

Hey, I just noticed they weight quite a bit. Did you notice any changes in fuel consumption after installing them?

I think the company AMP research makes retractable steps for the 4runners. Prices are $1000+

Honestly, I’ve added so many things like lift, bigger tires, sprint booster, cold air intake, steps that there’s no way I’d even know if any of those caused a dip in gas mileage. I can tell you I didn’t think they were particularly heavy. I was able to install them myself. Not sure if that helps at all.
