Do you shave or cut your own hair?

I had many hair lengths and styles, and just recently I had my buddy buzz my head with his clippers with a #2 clip, and I must say I like it. I also notice how easy, and difficult it is to make a mistake if you are doing one length. So I ordered, and received my Wahl Clippers the other day, and I figure it will be at least a month till I need to do it myself. How easy/hard is this?

I have done this off and on. Shaved and also cut my own. I have had a cordless norelco beard trimmer for a while and have really liked it. I recently bought a cordless version of a full fledged hair trimmer from costco. It was really inexpensive. It is really nice to not have to plug it in. Not only is the cord out of the way, but you can use it in areas where hair doesn't matter so much, like outside or in the shower. Less cleanup that way. I think the hardest part is to line it up (straightening or rounding the edges). I usually have someone else do that to make sure it is straight and that I don't take out any big chunks. Good luck.

Lately I have been splurging for a salon cut. Mainly due to lack of time and lazyness.

One last note: I have curly hair, and it is pretty forgiving. If you have straight hair it will probably be harder to do a longer haircut. But actually should be easier with a buzz.

I've been buzzing my head on/off for a couple of years now. I've recently gone real short, I don't even use a guard. Now I'm contemplating on actually use a razor.

Go with the Gilette M3Power. I have been using it for a couple months now (on my face) and it is definitely better than the already great Mach3. Might vibrate your melon in a weird way though.

cutting it even all around is straight forward. getting the fade and doing the back is the hardest part. its all about practice.

i use to shave my head one length is real easy, it's kinda tuff the first time you use a razor, but i got use to it pretty fast. if you want to get a salon style haircut for free find a student thats in beauty school adn have them cut it. i have a girl at the local beauty school cut my and she does it for free even though i offer to pay her.

I have found that my wife cuts my hair better than anyone else and it's cheaper too. I do have a beard shaver that she uses on my neck. Some of us "younger" guys still have hair and don't want to rush to the shaved look!:rocker:

Yep, I bounce between the No. 1 guard and no guard. I just go out on the deck and let her rip. I have gotten to the point where I don't even have to look in the mirror or window. The best part about it is at the beach. You don't have to worry about sunscreen leaving your hair all greasy. Just rub it on. Also during the winter you can wear a knit cap and have no static.

haha, but wearing a knit cap is like using velcro. all the little stubble seems to grapple the hat.

and I cut my hair better then a lot of barber.

i have been cutting my own hair for 6 yrs now and i can get it done in about 5 min......i fade from the no. 1 attachment on the bottom to no.5-6 on top the back is the hardest..... but after this long nobody can tell if i get it done or do it myself so i keep doin it.......plus i keep the spikes in the front so i have to leave enuf hair for that style.....i have very straight, blond hair

Used to have hair past my shoulders in college. Then went to the blown dry look in the late 1970.....now it's No. 1 fade to ZERO. One step from white sidewalls. Clean shaven. no sideburns. I could pass inspection. Wife-zilla does the back of my neck with a moustache trimmer on my electric Braun razor to keep it clean up until my cut. Haircut eveyr 3 weeks.

My status in this area has changed. I had someone shave it the first time and now I am trimming it myself. 2 on the sides and 3 on the top. A may still go to the barber once in a while to get lined up.

My Wife cuts in-between hair cuts. She uses the beard shaver to trim my neck and for us older guys our ears. I use the beard shaver to trim my mustache.

My friend in college had a flowbee. Man i can't tell you how much fun it was gettin' all efed up and cutting his hair. My friends and i would pull straws or arm wrestle and isht like that to be the "lucky one" to do it.

I get a #2 fade to zero. I just get it cut on base for $6. A few years back me and some buddies used to just buzz each others head with a #1 or no guard. The only problem we'd run into is the clippers getting dull so we'd get some straggler hairs once in a while.

Nope, that's my girlfriend's job! The $$$ I save by not going to a barber is $$$ that goes to her for hair-straightening, cuts, color treatments, etc. It really does add up!
