Do you think I bought a milkshaked Toyota?

If you're the pissy type, close this window and don't read any further. This is not about a 3rd gen but most of us are in some way familiar with what this problem could be (and the Sequoia forums I have found are pretty much dead).

So earlier this year I swapped a 4Runner for a Sequoia. I quickly realized the Sequoia probably has a lot of the same problems as our 4Runners. At over 150k a radiator replacement went on the list. Me being me, I cracked open the Sequoia radiator as I did with one of the 4Runners a couple months back. The 4Runners radiator ultimately was O.K. but showed early signs of a seal failure at the transmission cooler connections. The Sequoia radiator on the other hand :rant:

Here is the unpleasant surprise I found. The confusing thing is that the coolant and atf look fine and the radiator is definitely old and most likely original. The transmission seals also looked better than the 4Runners. Only put about 2k on the Sequoia and it shifts O.K. Thoughts? Early stage milkshake maybe?

No, looks to me like old coolant around an old radiator cap. I don't see anything wrong from the pictures you posted.

If the coolant looks okay and the tranny fluid looks good, swap the radiator out if it helps you sleep better. Those dried up bits mean nothing. Show some fluid that looks like pepto bismol and then maybe you have a problem.

Thanks for the replies! I just got a little worried because the 4Runner radiator didn't have any of that stuff going on. The bottom of the 4Runner radiator was just black plastic with none of that light colored stuff in it. Didn't know that old coolant would turn that color. I really didn't want to drop the transmission pan to take a look so you guys saved me quite a bit of work and time.
