Do you think they lived on a gravel road?

I was excited to find a low mileage 4x4 '02 at a Ford dealership, 146k. The frame was surprisingly nice by midwest standards but the frame is literally full of sand. I've never seen this before, has anyone else?! If the sand isn't removed it is a certain death sentence as any moisture is not going to dry out. Just thought I would share.

I looked at a BJ75 landcruiser which had that, the frame was full of mud. It was used as a hunting truck. The frame seemed to be in decent condition, just needed to be cleaned out. Because it wasn't used on the road but in the bush, there was no salt in it so it was OK.

Interesting and it makes sense. This wasn't a mud truck because it is honestly in really great shape body-wise and the interior is a 9 out of 10. Oh, and the tires were mildly "chunked-out" like a typical gravel traveler.

I don't think that amount of accumulation came from driving on dirt roads . I live on dirt roads and the only time I've seen something like that was when a flash flood hit my in-laws place and totaled their vehicles and didn't do my 59 Apache any favors .

This. My guess it was buried in quite a bit of water for a period of time. Did you already buy it?

Looks like a flood vehicle or some major mudding on trails. Does interior look like it was replaced or cleaned very well. Wonder if it has a water line behind the door panels.

I too think its a flood vehicle. whats car fax say, where did the car come from

That's dried mud, not sand. You can tell by the larger particles that's caked in. I would also check the diff/transfer case/transmission fluids.

Dirt road. Even the body looks like it had some undercoat sandblasted off.

I'm thinking they went mudding with it and got it bogged in a big mud pit for a while and spun the wheels.

The rust around the sand and dirt leads me to believe it was wet unfortunately.

No, I did not buy it. The rust looks very typical for a midwest vehicle but the amount of sand was surprising.

Mine looked the same underneath, lots of sand in frame, pulley tensioners. Wondered if it was a flood vehicle at one time. In the direct sunlight, the front window shows all the signs of sandblasting from living/driving on sandy roads. That was the extent of my investigation.

i live on a dirt road, that definitely looks like it sat in muddy water or a stream bed. i have never had anything even remotely close to that on my truck after years of driving on dirt.
