Do you use Silicon when mounting speakers?

Newb, 1st post. When you mount new after-market speakers to an adapter or factory mount, do you use Silicon to seal it? I know you are supposed to use it between the adapter/spacer and the door. But between the speaker and adapter, I wasn't sure. Thanks in advance.

Silicon is great for sealing stuff, but you will have one-heck-of-a-time getting the speaker loose if needed.

Here is what I use...it is a clay-like material that can be rolled out into a worm, stays pliable, withstands temperature exremes.

dont do it, the fumes mite eat the rubber surround on the speakers. if you must seal it, use dynamat for this type of setup.
