do you wish i got the 4x4 model instead?

Hi all. I don't have a 4runner yet and been looking around and collecting info for my future purchase. im most likely going to get a 4th gen 4runner.
now im totally new to trucks/off-road etc.

do any of you wish you got a 4x4 instead of the 2wd? im new and probably wont be going off-roading anytime soon. maybe just camping and trail heads stuff.

its hard to find a 4x4 in my area and see a lot of 2wd 4th gen for sale. im not going in the mud anytime soon either. maybe in a few years when my kids are older.

I live in Chicago and have always had a 4x4. All depends on how you plan on using your truck!! Trails can get muddy & slippery, thats when you will wish you had a 4x4. Now living in S. Cal, I can understand your situation.

I live in SoCal and I opted for the 4x4 model. I like to snowboard and wanted something that could make it up the mountain. I also enjoy hiking, camping and off-roading and I never wanted to be limited to where I can go.

One of the major reasons why I went with a 4Runner besides its reliability was because you can switch between 2wd Hi, 4wd hi and 4wd Low. A lot of the other vehicles I found were full time AWD.

My personal opinion would be to get the 4WD this way you can't look back and wish you had. I've got a 4WD and I know if it would only be 2WD I would be disappointed and would have probably already moved onto a 4WD. That's just me though, I actually use my 4WD fairly frequently.

Thanks for the replies. I only see one 4x4 in my area. Sucks not much to choose from.

I want one really bad.

Did you guys have major problems with the 4x4 system?
