Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - lots of choices
Well, it’s been a long time coming. Overall it took me 2 months to get everything in order for the 5th gen. I will say when I installed the lift a few weeks ago it felt oversprung with the stock wheels and tires. Much like my 3ed gen with ome. Yesterday was my alignment appt, so I mounted up the FN six shooters with 285/70/17 ko2s E rated and the ride transformed from almost hollow oversprung feeling to totally compliment and awesomeness! Tires made the driving experience amazing at 40 psi. I just upped it to 45 so we will see how that is.
Zero rubbing on fender liner and BM (in town driving) with my selection of parts. Im sure that will change once I hit the dirt and the springs break in a bit. I might be mistaken saying this but I don’t recall seing anyone with FN six shooters on this thread. I think because of the bs and offset is why I dont rub.
Also as a bonus I noticed almost zero power loss going up to the 285s. My guess is the the light 19 lb wheels are contributing to the zero power loss.
Right now I totally recommend Dirt King BJ UCAs. Well built and the alignment tech was easily able to get me 3.5 castor. Drives straight and true with confidence. Glad I got the Dirt Kings!!!
Install was not challenging (half day) and of course Mike was great to work with. Only mistake I made was not installing the center caps on the wheels before install. Cheers to my dad for the help. He’s been a mechanic his whole life and has all the tricks.
Rake with 302/325 is perfect. My guess is with 150ish lbs of gear I wont be bro leaning.
Lift and tires don’t seem to affect the MPG or spedo after a 1/4 tank of gas.

After reading some more, I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and get the Dirt King UCA's with BJ.
I will take pics and let everyone know how this set up turns out, I am very excited!

As for 275 vs 285. I have no complaints going up to the 285s. Our FN wheels are light enough to help offset the weight difference. I did scrub the front bumper yesterday so my guess is that it took a few weeks for the springs to totally settle.
I'll move the finder liner up a bit this weekend.

Awesome, I am really happy with all of the parts!!! I have load E tires 44 psi up front and 43 psi in back seems to be the sweet spot for a starting point.

We finally received our Front Top Mount Strut Spacers into stock this week.
PS59-4030 - Single 1/4" machine alloy strut spacer, anodized black, suits almost all Toyota's from the 90's to current. Drilled with 2 bolt patterns to fit multiple vehicles. 4Runner 3rd, 4th, and 5th Gen. All Tacoma's 1998 to 2019. All GX470/460. All FJ Cruisers. Can be used to correct a vehicle lean if one exists, or to add one to both sides to add 1/2" lift.
$35 each
NOTE: In our experience with our suspension these aren't needed hardly ever on a 5th Gen, as they don't lean like 4th Gens and Tacoma's do.

Whenever the Dobinsons UCAs arrive I can show you 265s on the next step up from that... I've had 300/574 and 327/701's sitting in the garage for over a month awaiting their "friends" to arrive

Swapped in the C59-327 rear coils. Tires are 295/70/17. Gave me a little rake again, perfect when I add the tire carrier.
