Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

I am looking at getting:

Front:
C59-300 (1.75-2" stock weight)
GS59-700
Rear:
C59-505 (1.5" stock weight)
GS59-705 Comfort Valved

Curious about the difference with the GS59-701 and comfort valved GS59-705 for the the rear.

This rig ('19 SR5) is a daily driver and occasional weekend warrior. Will probably see mostly forest roads with occasional excursions to OHV areas. Stock size tires, and so far only mod is rock sliders. Aside from camping and recovery gear in the back it's light, and usually empty, this will not be a heavy overland build. The front will eventually get a slim bumper/winch but that is probably a year out.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regarding valving differences, see Mike's post here

I have the 705s (matched with 725 coils) and have about 100-125lbs of gear in the back all the time. On the highway they are pretty comfortable. My only complaint (likely due to the weight i have back there) is that they are a bit soft when rock crawling and coming off ledges or waterfalls. On forest roads, I'm pretty content with them. Also running them with aftermarket bumpstops.

Thanks, Mike. I sent you an email via EXITOFFROAD email address to follow up.

There are options for sure.

2" front, 1" rear is pretty common, especially with stock tires.

C59-300
GS59-700
C59-599
GS59-705

All base kits start at $880 though. Here's the page where you can build a kit how you want it with all possible options.
Dobinsons 1" to 3.5" Build-A-Kit Toyota 4Runner 2010-20 | Exit Offroad

But for a simple lift, all you'd need is the coils, struts and shocks to get the ball rolling.

Got my Dobinsons coils and Eibach Pro Truck Sport Shocks installed and it appears I am the only one so here is my review, feel free to ask questions!

Shocks: 4 Eibach Pro Truck, fronts are installed on the bottom ring.
Front Coils: Dobinsons C59-302 (advertised at 2.5" lift)
Rear Coils: Dobnsons C59-325 (advertised at ~2.0" lift)

Stock Hub measurements (I have 3rd row seats):
PF & DF: 19.5
PR & DR: 21.5

New Hub measurements after 50 miles, rears should settle with some time:

DF: 22.0
PF: 22.5
DR: 24.0
PR: 24.0

Compared to my OEM XREAS suspension with Toytec 2.5/1.5 spacer lift, this lift feels so much better on road, it takes potholes and road imperfections much better (XREAS may have been compromised at 70K). Pot holes and speed bumps no longer feel like i totaled my car every-time i drive over them. I have yet to test it out off-road.

I went with this lift set up because I wanted the lower spring rates that Dobinsons offers as well as being able to dial in the perfect lift numbers for my needs and the Eibach shocks have great reviews and the mono tube design is what I was after. My end goal was really to get the smoothest on road ride I could get without dishing out for Kings and I think i accomplished just that. I do have a slight driver side lean that I will address with a top plate spacer after a couple of months if it remains. Also my XREAS lines are zip tied currently and I plan on removing the system soon.

Let me know if any of you have any questions!

Truck looks great! But I wonder why you got now a 0.5" difference at the front? I thought that was for KDSS only?

That's a good setup for a stock weight vehicle and stock sized tires. You'll be keeping most of the factory rake too. For no daily rear weight, the 705's will have it be more comfortable. Those are sold out, due in about 2 weeks.

Thanks champ, you're always on top of things on here!! hahah

Now that I have the MRA 3-way adjustables on the rear of my 4runner after taking off the 705's at Christmas, I know what you mean. I run around the streets with pretty soft low speed compression, but once I get offroad, I need to dial it up a little bit more to control the truck better.

500 mile update:

Hub -
DF: 22.0
DR: 23.75
PF: 22.5
PR: 24.25

Have a .5” lean on the driver side, wish I could have known to install 10mm spacers while under there!

Here is a shot with 250 lbs in the trunk:

Damn, right when I was about to pull the trigger on my lift. Mike, what kind of wait is there for those KDSS coils? I want the teal anyway. My shop says they usually get parts from you within a week. I would be willing to wait it out to do it right. Unsure if the spacer is really a big deal though.
Depends on the part number. End of June there are some coming.

Spacer on top of even height coils equals exactly the same result with no negatives.

I have no idea, the OEM coils definitely have a stronger looking driver side coil to compensate so not sure why aftermarket ones don't! Trying to figure out the easiest way to wedge a 1/4" top plate spacer in the front and a 10mm in the rear. The rear coils were such a pain to stuff in and now I gotta go back :(

Here's your photo, but straightened with the rear windows used as a level.

You don't "have to" add spacers. It won't change the ride at all, it just satisfies your measuring tape.

I honestly want to get over it but it visually leans pretty hard. My girlfriend even pointed it out and she has hardly knows the difference between a tire and a shock.

Hey Mike quick question. I currently have the setup listed in my sig. If I plan on adding approx 135 lbs to the front (C4 lopro, RSG front skid) would you recommend going up to the C59-314 front springs to maintain the 2.5 inch front lift? Thanks in advance for any guidance given.

You can add the weight and see how much it drops. If the bumper doesn't have a winch added, it may not drop too much. 314's are the next step up, but you might only lose about 1/4" of height from where you are now.

You could also just add a 1/4" spacer on both sides to add 1/2" lift to it, if it drops just a bit, instead of changing out the coils.

Finally pulled the trigger. Install next week pending shipping. I wanted about 2.5" lift with no chance of the ass sagging when it's loaded down. I was a little worried the 725 in the rear would be too much, but I'm ok with the factory rake and anything less than that should be fine. Wanted to fit 285s with wheel spacers for now, possibly a mild offset wheel in the future (SCS F5s with -10). Might wind up with an aluminum low-pro bumper and winch, but not any time soon.

2020 TRD ORP with KDSS.

Front 302 / 700
Rear 725 / 701
JBA UCA
Spidertrax spacers
Trail wheels
285/70r17 P rated Nitto Ridge Grapplers

So stoked to see how it looks. I have been referencing this thread constantly through the process. Definitely read it at least once. Thanks Mike, for answering all of our questions.

Who did you order it from? I didn't see an order with those parts come thru on my site.

I just wanted to reiterate that Crikeymike and Dobinsons have FANTASTIC customer service.

I emailed Mike about sourcing a replacement part for a suspension piece that I damaged (my fault). Mike was able to get me in contact with the right person very quickly. One quick email later and I have a shipping/tracking number. All in less than 10 minutes. The part then arrived halfway across the US two days later.

Many companies provide good customer service before the purchase, but only a fraction even attempt to continue that service afterward. With this level of dedication to the customer and a big enough catalog of suspension components to fulfill anyone's needs, buy from exitoffroad.com with confidence!

Thanks Ryan, glad we got it squared away for you!! :yo:

I've been looking around for some feedback on the IMS kit. Has it not shipped at all yet? Or are they just between orders?
I am currently running the OME Nitrocharger 3" but since the addition of lots of steel and junk I don't have a lot of lift left. I also have about 40K on the set up so not sure I want put money into adding new coils.
