Hello!

My friend and I installed a strut and spring for the front over the weekend.

I was going through a few sources. I thought there was a mention that you'd just bottom out on the top nut for the strut so there shouldn't be an issue with overtightening...

However, it looks like with the top bushing bulging, I either did that or used the wrong washer. Thoughts?

Could be the wrong top washer, as that end uses the bigger OD of the ones that come with it.

How does it look with the vehicle back on the ground?

This is actually the look of it with the vehicle on the ground. I'll assume I had the two washer's backward then. The slightly larger one in the top hat and this smaller one on top.

The smaller washer will dig into the rubber if that's what's on top. You can relieve some turns on nut so it's not bulged out so bad, but definitely worth checking your work as it's not usually that bulged out

Would you know the best way to install the rear spring and coils for a 4Runner with KDSS? I think after trying it, it might be best to disconnect the rear sway and kdss mounts from the axle. Thoughts?

Great.

Yeah. Take the mounts off where it attaches to the axle. Then do one side of coil at a time. You can have someone push down (stand) on the end of the axle to get it to flex down a little more to get the coil in place. Be sure they're rotated against the notch in the coil seat properly too

Good idea to do that. Depends on the lift height you're going with. I've done it with them still connected

Did you remove the sway bar as well?
