Does anybody here have a Quick Jack?

This has caught my eye:

QuickJack BL-5000XL

I would like to hear opinions from somebody who has one. The thought of being able to lift my vehicles completely off the ground for underbody maintenance/oil changes/tire rotations etc... has me intrigued to say the least.

That is rated to 5,000 lbs, so you would already be at it's maximum safety limits.
I personally wouldn't get under a vehicle being lifted like that, and the weak "safety" lock they have if the hydraulic cylinder fails.

Just my 2 cents.

Caught my eye also, saw it on television and it looked really cool. I'd be interested in any feedback ,but I think it is pretty new.
 
They're pretty much only for tire rotation type work. You won't be able to get to most of the bottom.

According to Toyota, the curb weight of the 4Runners is as follows:

SR5 - Curb weight (lb.) 4400
Trail - Curb weight (lb.) 4750
Limited - Curb weight (lb.) 4525
TRD Pro - Curb weight (lb.) 4750

Also, I think these units are heavier duty than you may be thinking. I am going to try to find a local distributor so I can go get my hands on one.

One of the specific claims they make is "much safer than jack stands" so we'll see.

Also, in March 2016 they are coming out with a BL7000 which will easily exceed the curb weight of most street SUV's/Trucks.

Personally I always overkill safety if I am going to be under a vehicle - ergo I would still have jack stands, concrete blocks, etc.. under the car if I am physically under it. Being crushed to death is not the way I want to exit this world. :-)

Slow Jack

That's a lot of money for something that only runs on 110 AC and has limited purpose. They'd be in the way for work under the car.

I have a slow jack. A cylinder jack and 4 jack stands. If I want fast I use the floor jack.
 
I like the MaxJax a lot.

Unfortunately my 3 car garage has a structural steel beam that limits clearance above to just under 10 ft. However, I think that would would work fine as the 4Runner is just under 6 ft high so that would easily give me 3 feet and some change of lift which is more than sufficient for anything I need to do.

My neighbor has a slightly different style house and his 3rd car stall has about 16 ft of clearance. He has a lift he puts his classic Mustang on and then raises it and his wife has room to park her Passat wagon underneath. It's pretty cool.

My brother has a professional quality lift in his huge garage in the country but he is about 30 minutes away and it's a hassle if I just want to change oil or something so I'd like to find a solution that will work for my garage. The MaxJax looks like it might be the one. I am not really concerned about cost - safety and quality are my primary factors.

Keep the ideas coming guys!~
 
I have always used Jackstands regardless of what I lift the vehicle with. I am not sure I would feel comfortable using this lift.

But one question, why is the Trail 300 plus pounds heavier than the SR5? This caught my eye more than the jack discussion?

The lightest 5th gen is the sr5 2wd at 4,400

The heaviest is the limited 4wd at 4,805.

The 4wd system is ~ +350lbs up front.
 
I am of the thinking, if you're going to be spending $1500 for something like that why not go all the way spend $3000 and by one of their two pole lifts? And have a "real" shop setup :)
 
So several years have passed since the OP asked if anyone has a QuickJack.


I know there are other options and I know these are costly.
I'm also aware that I could use a floor jack and jack stands.


Does anyone have a QuickJack?
If you do does it work well on your 4runner?
Do you have any pictures of the 4runner on quick jacks?

I've searched Google and found little to nothing.
