Does anybody use Carista?

I did the same. Paid the year membership. Not worth it. Get it all done within the first 30 days. I hoped to use it on future cars and the only other vehicle it has customized is my wife’s 3rd gen taco. Not impressed. But decent for $20.

I paid $40, that was on sale, and have zero issues with what I paid for it, granted I also paid another $20 for the "lifetime" membership when it was available. So yeah I would agree the "yearly subscription" thing is BS, although you can by a week for like $3, right? It would cost you more in time and headache to take it to the dealer to get your settings changed.

$20 is nothing, you get full app access for 30 days plus and a decent ELM327 1.4 compatible bluetooth adapter, that works with most other OBDII apps. The generic $15 BT ELM327 clones on fleabay and amazon are hit and miss.

Care to elaborate? Why buy one in the first place if you never intend to do anything with it?

It works the same as any other ELM327 OBDII adapter. You can connect a half dozen other performance/diagnostic apps to your truck with it, not just Carista's app.

I don't know about the apps other than Crista. But I couldn't it get to do anything without a subscription.

I am just going by what you said. Yes you need a sub, it says you need a sub, you get 30 days free to make any changes you want, or pay $10 for a week anytime after. I am just trying to figure out why you said what you said? Because what you said doesn't make any sense.

It is fine if you don't like something, say it. Don't bullsh!t and say something is worthless when it clearly isn't.

I am not saying this thing is the end-all-be-all it is not without its shortcomings BUT it does do 95% of what it advertises to do, and the price is squat for a branded ELM327 BT adapter.

Main reason I bought it was to customize the window settings so I could hold the unlock key to bring the windows down. Yes you can only do that with the subscription, which is free for 30 days then $40 for the year, so I'll be cancelling after 30 days.

Initial observations, the app leaves a lot to be desired from a UI/UX standpoint and it's slow as hell. Saw the Torque app in the google play store and plan to give that a try.

One question I did have, is when the module is plugged in there is a red light on..that means it's working, but I couldn't find anything that indicates whether the red light goes off after a period of time..It was still on with engine off and keys out of the ignition.

The OBDII port is an always on port. If you leave any device in the port it has the potential to drain the battery.

Carista was super simple plus 30 day free trial

Ordered the Carista adapter for 2018 TRD ORP for $19.99 no tax or shipping from Carista. Here's the link https://caristaapp.com/adapter

You also need to get the iPhone app with a 30 day free trial with all functions available just be sure to choose "1 year membership" when prompted and cancel within 30 days to get it free. Directions on their website. 1 week for all functions was $9.99
It arrived in two days, took less than 10 minutes to go through the menu to make changes. Getting rid of the seatbelt chime and the Eco graph was simple.
Not sure how it works with Android.
As stated by others, it is slow to load, maybe two minutes for me, but then it was fast making changes

The OBDII port is powered even when the car is off - it just most likely can't read the ECU. The ECU might not be accessible until the ignition is in the accessories on position or engine on position. Some newer cars will have ECU read mode when car is off - I don't believe the 4R is this case. What ever you are plugging in might need the ECU to be in read mode to stay on.

Interesting, thank you. One prime example is the Valentine One's ODB power port used to power their radar detectors. It works perfectly, and once the vehicle is turned off it will shut the radar off after a few seconds as well.

I am wanting to do a lot of the typical customization, as well as get all doors to unlock with the keyless entry. Was hoping someone had experience with a 2020 model.

I just bought it ($30), activated the one year subscription (free for first 30 days), tweaked a bunch of stuff on 2 different 4Rs, cancelled the subscription, and sold the adapter ($20)... so I was able to adjust all the settings that were making me crazy for the low, low cost of $10 and 20 minutes of my time!

If all you want to do is adjust settings I think it's a great deal, way cheaper and easier than Techstream.

I modified:

-ECO bar off
-Seat belt buzzers off
-Headlight "coming home" time to 0
-No more auto relock if you hit the unlock button on remote but don't open the doors immediately
- Windows down from remote
- Disabled auto door lock linked to transmission gear
- Silenced remote lock/ unlock beep
- Windows up/ down from driver's key slot
- Rear wiper set to 5 seconds with tear wipe cancel
- Disabled panic alarm

I see no reason why it wouldn't and Carista's website shows it will work. Worked on a 17 SR5 and a 19 ORP, other than the addition of TSS there's no difference from your 20.

Oh yeah! I've since used it on my 2020 and it was awesome; best $35 i've spent on the rig!
