Does the 04 SR5 come with Immobilizer?

Hey guys. Just purchased a 2004 V6 SR5. I was contemplating an aftermarket alarm system but I figured if my 4Runner came with a key immobilizer (like my 2015 Tacoma), a basic Viper alarm would be kind of useless.

Yes, just the immobilizer if the light just blinks once the doors are locked. If it stays solid then starts blinking after 30 seconds you have the alarm and immobilizer.

You can add OEM part 89730-35010 and add the alarm, its plug-n-play.

Limited runners came with the alarm.

So you're saying i can just add this part to get the factory Alarm? That simple?

The plug is behind the glove box, upper part and is tied to a bar. I will try to get a picture in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the link. If you can confirm this part is 100% true, then looks like I don't need the module because my 4Runner already does this. :rockon: Would save both of us the hassle of looking behind the glove box.:becky:

The easiest way to tell if previous owners added the alarm is to lock the door with the fob and look at the engine immobilizer LED next to the clock. If it stays on solid for the first 30 seconds and then blinks, you have the alarm. If it blinks right away you only have keyless entry.

Your runners light stays illuminated and starts blinking after 30 seconds after locking the door OR does it just blink immediately after locking the doors?
 
Stays illuminated then blinks after 30 sec. Sorry I just reread your previous comment. So it does look like I have an alarm!
 
Perfect thanks !! Also found the diagram where it shows all 3 components shouldn't be to bad . Need a screw or to secure it ?
 
Many thanks to [MENTION=86859]djkurious[/MENTION] helped walk my ol'ass thru the process of finding the plug , which mine was taped up on that stalk of wire & awkward to get too ! But I have skinny hands & pulled em down . Checked for steady light & all was swell ! :bigok:
 
Not the solution you're looking for, but you should look into the system that our local Toyota dealer offers. Years ago I took a new FJ Cruiser out for a test drive and the salesman was pointing out all the features to me.

One thing that was of particular interest to me was the "Diff Lock" button. The salesguy explained to me that this was part of the security system. Pushing that button when parked completely locks all the axles and prevents the car from being towed or pushed away.

Again, not sure that this is the solution you're seeking...
 
Thanks to k3v11n and djkurious for their information about the part needed and where to place it in order to have a working alarm. Except for the alarm not activating when the hood is opened, it works for the doors which is good.
