Does the Stainless Steel Magnaflow 15584 exhaust kit rust?

I'm debating if I should install the Magnaflow 15584 on my truck. I know the exhaust is stainless steel and it shouldn't rust, but has anyone experienced any rust from the salt and snow after a couple years?

Well if it rusted on them why would it not rust on you? A few members mentioned the quality of the stainless, manga using 400 everywhere but the tips, which were 300. I know nothing about stainless except what I just read and the consensus seems to be to buy a full cat back made with 300 or better, as a user mentioned, Borla uses.

Yes- some stainless will rust. Depends on the grade as there are tradeoffs. I'm not an expert, but from what I've learned over the years the more rust resistant the stainless is the softer the metal is. That's why stainless bolts aren't always the best bet when dealing with things like suspension, etc.

Anyway, even if it does rust it will just be minor discoloration and surface rust that will not affect anything other than appearance.

road/stintered brake pad debris that has landed on the muffler and then rusted would make sense, but these reasons aside, the can itself shouldn't rust.

Magnaflow uses 409 grade automotive stainless steel. This particular grade of stainless has the tendency to form a protective layer of surface rust in wet/humid/snowy climates or when exposed to salted roads. This layer is superficial and will not penetrate the metal itself. It can be removed using soap and water and a steel Brillo or S.O.S pad. In the rare event that 409 stainless steel pipes become rusted through, Magnaflow's lifetime warranty will cover replacement.
