I believe Toyota reccomends Premium fuel for best performace, but both engines run perfectly well on regular grade gasoline. I would consult your owner's manual to be sure, but as far as I know... no Toyota vehicle we have sold in the past decade has had to use premium fuel only. (Not including Lexus or the Supra, wise arses )

Psst. Modern computers make premium gas a waste of money on all but the most whinny engines. I get that if you have a super tuned, expensive ass engine that has an ultra high compression ratio that it requires the premium anti-knock additives.

Every article or intelligent study on the issue concludes at a majority of vehicles on the road run regular with no appreciable issue.

That's all fine and dandy; however, not only have I noticed increased performance running exclusively V-Power but it pays for itself with the increase mileage. YMMV, literally.

The V8 is a better engine. Don't pass it up.

First of what is the average difference in fuel consumption between V6 and V8? 1-3 miles per gallon? Let's say it's 2 miles per gallon. On average fillup, which would be around 18 gallons, that's 36 miles per tank/fillup diferrence (36 miless less for a V8). So....if you get an average of 18 miles per gallon, which is what I get on my V8 that's 2 gallons more spent on V8 vs V6. At cuurent gas prices at $3.5 that translates to roughly 7 dollars more spent if you have V8. Further if you fill up on average twice a month that's $14 more a month times 12 months equals $156 dollars a year. Shoot.....let's make it even $200 more a year for a V8, which for me is well worth the torque and reliability.
