Does your moonroof open all the way with one touch?

All of the windows in my 4Runner fully open automatically with one touch (of the switch for that particular window) with the exception of the moonroof. It opens ~85% of the way automatically with one touch, but then I have to hold the switch to get it to open the rest of the way. Is everyone's like that?

Yup, It's totally normal. My Gen 3 is that way also. SOP for Toyota. Not sure why, but that how every Toyota I have owned is.
 
Same way on my 2013. My wife's BMW is the same way, for what it's worth. Not sure why they do this.
 
According to something I read somewhere (maybe the owners manual) the 85% opening value reduces wind noise versus fully open.

ive noticed it also makes a difference as to how much exhaust fumes make their way back into the cabin when all of the windows are down.

I believe that is to reduce buffeting. Many may think theirs is 100% open but have not extended past the auto engage point as they may have thought it was already 100%. :confused:
 
Thanks for the confirmation that it's normal. Wind noise was the only reason I could come up with for this operation, but I'll be damned if I can tell a difference vs fully open.
