Dog Breed Info - Aussies

Good choice on the Aussie. My parents have one that is around 10 years old now. Amazing dog, very smart and a lot of energy. He is amazing with kids and lets my daughter ride on his back sometimes. He is also very loving and protective over the kids in my family. I'm sure you will be very happy with her. Try to train her not to bark a lot though. My parents dog barks at the slightest thing and it drives everyone crazy, other than that, have fun!
 
Well, we picked her out tonight!! 2 of the pups were adopted today, but not this one! We changed our mind last night and decided to go with a girl instead of a boy, due to the smaller size and calmer demeanor.

Well, here she is, her name is Sloan and she's as sweet as can be it seemed! She was one of the smaller ones and had smaller feet, so I don't think she'll be too big. But, holy smokes were they cute!!

I also threw in a pick of Coco and Roscoe, the two bulldogs. I would've liked to take either of them home, but that idea got shot down pretty quickly!!

Oh my gosh, she's adorable!!! She's like a little puffball. I can see why you'd fall in love! Look at the smile on your daughters face... to die for!
Those bulldogs are awful cute too, but I think you'll find the Aussie will make you much happier.
Now you have to post up pics ever so often so we can watch her grow :) Congrats on the new addition!

Thanks! Yeah we didn't take long to decide she was the one!

We pick her up this afternoon, I can't wait!
 
my family in UT has several assuies, the brother in law comes from a ranch family who have been using assusies as working dogs for generations, my sister and brother in law no longer live on the ranch with the other in-laws but have taken a few of the pups home as family pets...they are great dogs and everything people are saying here is true, the main thing though is you got to work them out everyday and it also helps to give them something to do, these dogs love their job, so you gotta keep them active and giving them a goal really seems to please them.

Warning though these dogs will turn into jerks as many others will if you don't keep them exercised, a vast majority of the problems people have with dogs is simply not working them as much as they need, it annoys me to no end...

haha, must have missed teh update! congrats man,cute little guy you got there, funnily enough to one of the other posters my sisters assuie is named coda as well! good luck with the training and the rest, it's almost like having a child for the first few weeks! haha

I don't know how much I can contribute. I have 2 pointers and a lab. The one bit of advise I can give about high energy dogs is to keep them busy. High-energy dogs with no outlet for that energy can be very destructive. Just keep them busy, tire them out and you'll have no problems with them.

Kids definitely need dogs. The one thing I always give my parents crap about is that they never let me have a dog growing up. Now I have three and couldn't be happier. My kids will have dogs their entire lives.

Edit: Looks like I just repeated a bunch of stuff the izzardking wrote but it's all true.

Ha! No, its the food the rescue place was feeding her. She's been awfully hungry since coming home from getting fixed. She obviously has some crate training to, she is very comfortable in it and when she's tired she heads straight for it.

I think training the kids is going to be the hardest though, they are driving me bonkers! In a good way though, I know they are just excited.
 
That's great that she's already taking to her kennel. They are so smart. Too smart for their own good :)
Ha! Kids are excited until she starts play biting/teething and trying to chew their things.

Well night number one in the books. She did awesome too! She went out twice and just whined a little bit. She did have an accident in her kennel but that's too be expected with all the new stuff going on. :D
 
Well, one weekend down and she's doing awesome.

We let her out once in the night and then she's good until we get up, around 6:30 and no more accidents since the first night.

She seems to be pretty smart and very calm and well behaved. She's a joy to have around the house with us.

And she's a good buddy to have out when I'm messing in the garage too.

Awwww!!!! She's just adorable! Makes me want to have a new puppy too :) Puppy breath is the best! Just love her.
