Dog kennel tie-down?

I've got a growing puppy so have a slightly more temporary crate/kennel before I likely end up purchasing a Ruffland one. But I guess the question is the same - how do I properly secure/tie it down? I'm new to dog crates and to tying things down in the 4runner in general... haha

Ideally I'd like to have the crate off to the side hugging the wheel well, but if I run a strap to the tie town points... what do I do on the other side facing the middle? Otherwise I'd imagine it could still rock/roll. Certainly if I just placed it dead middle I could tie out to the 4 corners... but less sure how when I want it on the side? (and ideally not a strap just going right across the cargo area taking up storage space).

And lastly for the actual tie-down... ratchet straps or something else/simpler? It won't be taken in and out every single day... but would love easy in and out when needed.

Good choice with the ruffland, very nice kennels. We have two large which sometimes have ratchet straps (the orange things) just off the two side attachment points. Not the same application as yours but maybe helpful?

You are limited to the number of tie downs you have in the cargo area which (I believe) is 4. With the Ruffland placed in the middle of the trunk, I'd run ratchet straps through 4 bolted d-rings on top the kennel. I'd ratchet strap the kennel to the 4 tie down locations.

However if you build yourself a cargo plate, then your world opens up by allowing the ability for additional tie downs in the center. You'd then be able to offset the kennel.

Here's the set up I use for my two Labs. TransK9 box, I strap it to the second row headrests, but realistically it stays put without it.
