Dog scratching interior

Hello to everyone in the forum. I joined months ago when I was having tons of problems with my '04 4runner. Your comments were very helpful-so thank you! To make a very long story short I just bought an 06 Sport 4runner and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a good vehicle for me.

There is one problem that I have had and am hoping someone might have a good suggestion for me. Right under the windows it is a little soft and makes it very easy for a 25 lb dog to scratch or pucture it when riding with her nose out of the window. I have tried a new product called canine covers but am wondering if anyone else has found a better solution? I am sure that most people would say to keep her in the back or in a crate, I do that on many occasions, but I travel with her a lot and would like to let her out without worrying about my car (I should also point out that I have had her in multiple other vehicles without any trouble).
So...any thoughts?? Thanks in advance!

yeah i also have a fairly small dog that does the same. that leathery trim right along the window is so delicate. my dogs nails can easily create little dents and marks on it.
the only solution that i came up with is, getting some 2mm thin foam that is sticky on one side. then cutting it to fit those parts to protect it enough from where my dog constantly puts his feet on.

Thats a good idea...I will give it a try. Do you think that you could easily remove the foam after it has been stuck to the door for a while? I don't wan't to create any other problems down the road...

im sure it wouldnt be too hard. the sun could potentially cook it on but the windows in the back are tinted so i doubt it will really damage it. it might just leave it a little bit sticky but im sure some rubbing alcohol will get that off. im going to add some myself to see how it comes out.
