Doh! '03 V6 4x4 drain and fill

Well, I picked up 3 quarts to do my drain and fill which the manual says requires 2 quarts when doing this service. I watch it all drain into my container and it sure looks more like about a gallon to me.

Hmmmm. This is obviously some kind of misprint in the manual as adding back in 2 quarts doesn't even get me near full. Does someone know the actual fill quantity following a drain?

If I recall, my '01 taco took 7 qts for a drain and fill - that manual was way off too.

Maybe it's just me, but which system are you draining and refilling? IIRC, one (both?) of the differentials is around or under 2 quarts. The transfer case is a touch more...seems like I remember reading 7 quarts does all 3 (diffs/xfer case), but don't quote me. But, something like engine oil is 6-7 quarts depending on which engine. Could you have possibly looked at the wrong reference for what you drained?

I think 7 quarts may be on the high side, but better to have too much than not enough.

The owners manual is wrong. Takes me about 4-4.5 of the type-4 toyota stuff. Just check your dip.
