Don't be fooled! Front lift spacers, diff drop kit, rear coils no easy task!!!

Lets see, are we talking apples to oranges here? ive never even touched a 2wd 4runner, let alone know anyone thats lifted one. is it easier to lift 2wd's? Im talking about a 4wd truck that has seen much off road and has also seen many salty snow storms... somebody else wanna chime in?

I dont see why they would be any different. I've installed quite a few lifts on many different vehicles and I've never had the need to use a spring compressor. This 4Runner was, however, my first IFS install....

BTW, whether a spring has been used for on or offroad purposes or spent its life in the northeast or in the southwest wont make a bit of difference when it comes to installation...

I think there's a bit of confusion here. I would agree there is almost no way you can take a coil off a strut and put a new one on without a spring compressor. There's just way too much spring force there to be able to compress and hold while you tighten the strut top nut.
Do these struts have an adjustable coil seat or something? I'd love to know the technique for doing this.

im talking about bolts in general being stubborn from the elements.

and i disassembled my coil/strut assembly to put my spacers in... your probably talking about taking them off the truck then putting a spacer on top of them or something and reinstalling them because i dont see any physical way of doing this with out a strut compressor... and plus you would have to be a lunatic to attempt to take off the top nut on your top plate thats holding your coil to your strut without a compressor on there.

Yes, the spacer goes on top of the upper strut mount, however, I was also replacing the shocks which requires that the strut be disassembled. Also, when you add a spacer, you also must add longer upper strut mount bolts. Again, this is something that requires disassembly of the strut. As I said before, I disassembled the struts by hand and only required a compressor to complete the assembly of one strut. I almost had the other, but just could not get the nut threaded while holding/compressing the strut.

coil spring compressors required! with a lil trial and error on which bolts to loosen, some panther piss, and air tools it took about 4 hrs for my lift to be installed, about 45 minutes to stepping back and looking at the approach angles before making some turns of the wrench.
