I bought my first car from money I saved delivering newspapers and mowing lawns. It was not a lot of money so it was not a lot of car.

1960 Mercury Comet. It had a screaming 6 cyl, you would not believe the power that little car didn't have.

I'm now online looking to see if I can find a '70 Lemon Twist Duster 340, set-up like the one that was handed down to me, and I was too stupid as a teenager to keep.

So far I've found this dead ringer. Same trans, gearing, pretty much everything. :redbrick:

You say little 302,lol. I have seen some 302 that flat ass scream. They are great motors. Hard to beat a 5.0.

I really like the GM 5.0 in all honesty. That little guy would turn some RPM's. They were BA when they were in the Z28's back in the day for Trans Am Series racing.

1969 Mustang Fastback.

Learned a lot from that car!

My Dad and I rebuilt the entire suspension, fixed the rust, and redid the interior. It only had a little 302 (.30 over) that we rebuilt in the basement.
With a tuned Holley 600, Edelbrock cam/intake, Mallory ignition, Headers, built C4 tranny, and some magic headwork courtesy of my Dad- that little sucker would run!

Favorite memory was blowing the doors off another '69 Mustang (Notchback) a guy at school owned. He had a mostly stock 390 with a 4bbl and gears which he thought was fast. I walked him as soon as my secondaries opened and watched his (open mouthed) face in the rearview mirror all the way into 3rd gear.

I few months after I turned 15 I was handed the keys to this pile that had been sitting on our property for 2 years only being driven once every couple months.

Yeah but how many can say they have pictures of them self's with there first cars at like 7 years old in the drive way with there dad washing it on a Sunday. You have something special! Think about all the as hats at your school that beat on brand new cars and could care less. Your truck is how old and looks better than most of there new cars.

My dad bought it used in 89. This car drove me home from the hospital when I was born. It was mine when I turned 16. I promptly crashed it lol... a 16 year old kid should not have 317ft/lb torque. The other high school kids with their Mustangs and Camaros (note: high school - stock/lightly modified vehicles) had no chance in a drag race. The only car it ever lost to was a 93 C4 Corvette, not bad considering the weight difference.

Fixed it and kept driving it though. It had about 300k. Eventually, the little problems got to be too much and gas was $4.69/gal. I managed $4,000 for it. Wish I still had it, but without it going away, I'd have never bought a 3rd gen 4Runner.

Yeah, I worked a mercedes dealer in RWC in '90, and got to drive a bunch of those. The 5.6 was a beast, especially in the little SL class. When they changed over to the 5.0, it wasn't the same, felt like it had a little delay when you went to romp on it!

But the 6.0 v12 was nice...

At 16 bought a 1998 Toyota 4runner sr5 152,000 miles for 5,000 off of mowing grass since I was 13. With no realization of the huge community and huge capabilities behind it. I think everyday how lucky I am to not have gotten a pathfinder or a rodeo/passport. Now at 18 the 4runner has furthered my already existing passion for anything with wheels and landed me a job at Infiniti as a lube tech while still in highschool. Right when I brought it home, and then just recently with the 3 inch lift and 285's after putting it all on
