The Judge reportedly lost patience with the "captain" in court and ordered him back on board. This idiot has a history not obeying orders. Anyway, not sure what that is going to accomplish, but I think it sends a message to cowards in the industry. Whatever amount of jail time isn't going to "smooth" things over or give any kind of civil compensation to the victims or the Italian island. I think it's to humiliate him. This @ss caused one epic disaster!!! (there are still finding bodies on board, possible fuel spillage, one wrecked $500million dollar cruise ship) I'm sure the insurance companies (reportedly are estimated to shell out close to $1Billion in damages) and passengers of the Concordia are laughing at this. Ok, if not laughing, shaking their heads in acceptance of what that judge wants the captain to do. After the last cadaver is removed, the captain should disembark straight into a jail cell (pretty sure that is going to happen, thankfully).
On a separate note: I've seen that the cruise line might want to repair the ship, but I've also seen that they (insurance companies) will write it off. 1) that's alot of soda cans!! or 2) one incredible repair job. I mean, EVERYTHING is going to have to be replaced..... EVERYTHING!!!

Hehehe, i know...i have been on 2 cruises before...no worries. But hey, like Toyota scandal that resulted in my Prius being discounted, i sure hope that this incident will lower the prices!
Right now, my wife and I with 2 toddlers are paying just over $4000 for a regular balcony room. :cry2:

Yeah, my brother and his girlfriend are going on one with Carnival next month. Not sure where they are going exactly, but I'm sure they'll be fine too. I'm sure there is probably some sense of scare factor with this happening only a month prior though!

Yep, that sounds about right. Is that for a 7 day cruise? I've cruised on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Been about 14 years since my last cruise (ships have gotten Looney Tuney big since then..............)
Just pray they don't have a d*ckwad of a captain.

Listening to the audio is crazy. You can really tell the captain didn't want to stay on board (and didn't).

Don't know how old Thai is (doesn't look old, looks pretty young IMO), but I think Carnival is more kid friendly. When I cruised on Royal, I thought it was ALOT more upscale. Didn't notice a lot of kids. Carnival I noticed tons of them.

The captian of that ship is an idiot, he deserves any punishment he gets. I am doing a cruise in march on a Royal C. ship, thinking about springing for a balcony for the first time. I have cruised Princess and Carnival and enjoyed both for different reasons. Anyone have an opinion if the balcony is worth it or not?
