Door Lock Kill Switch

Im considering doing some travel in central america and am planning a cargo/draw system in the back. it occurs to me that if someone cant open the rear hatch, it becomes much more difficult to access my stuff in the draws.

id like to insert a switch that defeats my door locks so the rear hatch cant be opened even if they get into the truck.

anyone done this? any idea where i would insert the switch?

The Body ECU ( B16-A) handles most of it. The ACT pin 15 (-)> (61H) Black Yellow wire controls the negative for everything except the Drivers door.

The ACT pin 16(+) > (71H) L-W wire would kill all the positive to the motors controlling the electric locks according to the 1999 EWD

"L" might stand for light blue or light green, while "W" often means white. This wire would be in all door jams and in the rear hatch

Thin probes on a multimeter should be able to get stuffed in the back of a connector somewhere to check for voltage. You can also pierce the wire insulation with sharp probes, but that isn't great for the wire long term.

Based on the diagrams, rear door lock for the '96-'98 is controlled/powered the same as the the 4 main doors. You should be able to find the blue-white and black-yellow wires at the harness that goes into the rear hatch (roof plug near the rear dome light). Interrupting either one of those wires would disable the rear power lock/unlock.

For anyone with a '99-'02 out there reading, the setup is TOTALLY different on those.

Looking at the '98 EWD attached, you would have to switch off the L-W wire somewhere between the left Rear door on it's way back to the hatch. I really have no idea where that cable goes but the diagram looks like you can get to it behind the left side pane in the cargo bay near the left rear passenger door. Anywhere else, you will be disabling other locks as well as the hatch. L is Blue so it is Blue with white stripe. There should be three of those joined together and only one is heading for the hatch. It will be heading toward the roof.
