Door lock rattle help

My 2002 4runner is rattling on the drivers front door lock. The part that you can push or pull up and down to manually lock or unlock the door is loose. It still works fine, but rattles a good amount when I am driving. I took the door panels off a year or so ago to put in sound deadening material. I do not recall having this rattle before. I must have lost a small part that helps prevent this when I put it all back together. If anyone has any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

Possible something isn't right with the insert in the door panel. Can you compare it with the passenger side? You can buy that insert piece from the stealer for about $5 if that's the problem.

The small plastic "clip" in the door panel is all that keeps it from rattling around, there was nothing else in my doors either. When it gets cold out mine rattles a bit as well. I did the same thing, I put a little bit of felt around the base of the lock tab that sticks out of the door panel and it's quiet now.

Thanks for the help. I put some sticky soft-sided velcro around that thin metal rod going to the push-pull lock. Solved the problem.

When i put in new speakers I put a small stack of duct tape to apply slight pressure to the bar to prevent rattle but not add too much friction to the handle release.
