Door locks stop responding?

Trying to program new key fobs to my 3rd gen and found the videos on how to do aonfrom the forum (thanks!). When I go to cycle my locks 5 times the locks don’t make it let the 2nd interation, I continue to cycle the locks to attempt to program my fobs but they no longer go up or down as if it’s running out of juice or something?

Thinking since this isn’t working correctly is the reason I can not get my fobs to program. Thoughts?

Still trying to figure out the back glass as well, rolls up/down from the key hole. Rolls up from the front switch but will NOT roll down from the switch?

Over time, the actuators go out on our T4R's with electric locks. I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with mine. There are some posts out there where folks have purchased the small little motors in the actuator and replaced them but this is time consuming. Taking out all 4 actuators in each door is a real pain - reinstalling is just as bad.

I plan to find a scrapyard T4R, pull the actuators, rebuild them with new motors and then replace them all.

With respect to the rear window not going down with the switch, make sure the window lock button is not depressed on the driver's side door window controls......

FWIW, my sons was acting funny with the locks using the fob.. I thought it was the actuators being worn, decided to live with it. A few weeks later the car won’t start, battery was done. Replaced battery and now the locks work properly with the remote. It’s possible your battery is dieing a slow death.

Glad it was only a battery issue in your case. I have a brand new, AGM battery in my rig and still have the issue. After almost 19 years, I am fairly sure the little motors in the actuators are toast...

Take the actuators apart, clean out the motors and spray electronic cleaner into them, clean all internal gears and contacts, apply grease, reassemble. You'd be amazed what a little maintenance can do.

just to be clear, all your doors lock and unlock with the drivers lock/unlock door button?

unless all the door actuators function you will not be able to program keyfobs. or at least that was my experience. I ended up replacing both rear door actuators and then was able to program a keyfob.

I also replaced my driver side block assembly, there are relays in there that go bad eventually.

Had this exact same problem on my 4Runner where it would seem like the locks just quite cycling. There is another post here somewhere on this page that talks all about. One guy responded to my post about my locks and getting the key fob programmed. He told me to use the key in the door to cycle the locks instead of using the button. I had worked on trying to get them programmed for what seemed like weeks. After using the key in the door, 5 minutes later my key fob was programmed.

Yep the window lock is off, I thought it would be a window motor problem. But then wouldn’t it no work the same with the key in the hole?

Correct, the do cycle for two rounds but after that they seem to die off as if it is running out of juice (battery). But I have confirmed a good battery.

The electric door lock actuators do *not* have to be used to program. Instead, just pushing down/pulling up on the driver's side door lock knob (the part that pops up on the top edge of the door) works fine.

I know this for sure because I just learned it from a comment on a YouTube video about programming the fobs. I couldn't get my fobs programmed because I couldn't get into programming mode because my actuators would tire and stop locking/unlocking before I could get into programming mode. I ended up just using the knob on the driver's door and it worked perfectly.
