Doors lock when key turned to ON, how to change?

I am having an issues I can't figure out. My doors lock when I turn the ignition key to the ON position. This is very annoying since I often turn the key to ON to turn on the radio or program the GPS while others still get in. According to the manual the doors should either lock when shifting out of P or when driving over 12 mph (my preference), the key to ON is not mentioned anywhere. I tried the different programming options in the manual (using a stop watch for the 5 seconds) but never got the lock/unlock confirmation and nothing changed. Any ideas? Could this be related to the after market alarm? This is a 2008 Sport.

I haven't heard of anyone not being successful with the manual directions but aftermarket alarms are typically troublesome.
