Double Din install help

Hey guys/gals,

I'm sure this has been covered in another post but honestly I'm on my iPad using tapatalk and can't figure out how to search. Anyway I have a 2005 sport with jbl synthesis system. I don't believe I have RDS. My factory head unit isn't flush with the rest of the dash. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhow I'm doing some research on double dins and have a few in mind. They have motorized screens so I'm looking to find which dash kit I'll need. Some site I read said the metra kit doesn't work with motorized faces. I've looked through scoche's site but not having much luck. So if anyone has done this and knows what I need could you post a link or part number? I assume I'll also need a specific wiring harness to maintain the steering wheel control functions?

My overall goal for a double din is touchscreen ability, nav, Bluetooth phone calling and music streaming, DVD or movie file playback, sdcard, and RCA or hdmi inputs so I can connect my raspberry pi and have a car PC for obd monitoring and other things. If you have any double din model recommendations under $300 I would appreciate the advice. Right now I'm targeting a pyle pdnv78i due to it being inexpensive and fulfilling my requirements. I realize it's not a kenwood or pioneer but if I spend much over $300 the warden (aka my wife) will not be happy, and if she's not happy ain't nobody happy.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help.

Thanks dropspace, appreciate the help. Do you remember which wiring harness you used? Do your steering wheel controls still work?

Amazon.com: Metra TYTO-01 JBL Amplifier Interface Harness: Electronics

and

Amazon.com: PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface: Car Electronics

was all i needed. although I no longer run the speaker output through the metra adapter as I have removed the stock speakers and amp.

the steering wheel controls are a pain. i wired it myself but didn't get the resistors right and it wouldn't work. Eventually had to go to an installer to get some help and realized i should have just paid them 75 bucks to do everything and save myself a day...
