Nope, that's his thing. In almost all of his videos he wears two shirts.
His presentation style isn't for me. But he's right about the current 4Runner being the 2018 Land Cruiser for-the-rest-of-us, since I can't afford a 200-series. At least it is for me. It reminds me of the the first new 80-series I got to test drive.

He's the first guy to shake up the car review industry in a big way. He spends a lot of time analyzing when people get bored in a video and adjusts accordingly. He doesn't do the whole 30 second channel intro that everyone hates or the like and subscribe please share my video beg either. He also highlights quirks and features of vehicles like no-one else. Every other idiot goes off the spec sheet.

I watched and saw him work it more as entertainment than a tech review.
Example: He first trashes it for being a $50K car without keyless entry and pushbutton start. A bit later he speaks to the reality that we don't want a bunch of electronic junk that will fail and cost $10K to replace at the dealer.
Not my style of video either but I don't think his criticisms were inaccurate. I sold my 4th Gen and bought the 5th Gen because I wanted another old school body on frame 4x4.

Doug is just kind of silly -- he's not a serious reviewer in my book. He just has some fun things to say about the quirks that make each car unique.
The things he dings about the 4Runner are the things that folks like us enjoy about it. Toyota's got a pretty good roster of SUVs for just about every kind of person. You can get a Highlander if you want gizmos and decent gas mileage and interior space. I was parked next to one the other day, and the ground clearance difference made my stock SR5 look like a monster truck!
I don't think anyone really takes him seriously.

He's catering to his audience who are car enthusiasts, not truck or 4x4 enthusiasts. Just look at the title of this thread....the "new" 4Runner....what new 4Runner.

There is a lot of hate here for a genuine car fan/car guy. Demuro is awesome. Also, every year he does a poll for what car he should buy and write about for the next year. Generates a ton of fun content that way. Besides the BMW i3 (but no one really likes the that thing), he always finds the good in cars.
