Dous's Build Thread

-Well yesterday I went ahead and replaced both LBJs and Outer tie rod ends with the premium Napa Chassis parts. The ride quality is so much better, I shouldn't have put that off for nearly as long as I did!

-I also finished up all 4 tube doors, and mounted 2 Polk Audio marine speakers in the fronts. It will probably be rare that I run all 4 tube doors, since it rains so much around here; switching all four out is a pain!

The pictures might hurt your eyes, the lens got smudged with gear oil a while back and I can't get it off!

Smallish update....

-The Toyota broke down on me for the second time in 12 years! Just like the previous time, it was the battery, no fault of Toyota. The Duralast Gold, only lasted 2 years; it left me stranded at McDonalds of all places. God Forbid. I got jumped by a Jeep Grand Cherocar, which only made things 100x worse. At least Autozone replaced it for free!

-Also messed around with a couple older pictures, thought they turned out neat.

-I have also started my swingout rear tire carrier build, lets hope it goes well

-This weekend I am also going down to Uwharrie Nat'l Forest for Cruisin' Carolina Logan's Run, in honor of a younger member of Olde North State Cruisers who passed away earlier this year. There will be a bunch of cool LC's FJ40's and stuff of the like. Stay tuned for those pictures!

nice! your runner is inspirational because mines also black on black and 2wd! looks good man. oh and that last picture almost looks like its not real. Like its a toy miniature 4runner on display or something haha

Thanks man, that means a lot!

As for the edited picture, that's supposed to be the effect, I just wasn't sure if it would come across like that, glad it did!

that picture is super cool :) love the toy affect. got any pic of the tube door latches?

The door latches are really simple, it's just a common gate latch that latches around the "latch" that the normal door does. It gave me a bunch of rattle initially, but I just wrap a little bit of electrical tape around the latch and that stopped that. It's kinda ghetto, but it was easy!

With the quick release pins it is pretty easy, although it's a pain to get those in sometimes, but after that it's straight forward. I usually have me and a helper to take them off and it's done in 10 minutes. I did it by myself the other day and it took about the same but it was stressful, the doors are pretty heavy. I believe Yotatech has a "door thread" that is stickied that is very helpful with making the quick release hinges

Well did quite a bit of work today. I installed four 55W 6" lights on the roof rack today, I think it turned out good. Started wiring but didn't finish, so boring! :uzi:

-Also started working on my front bumper, I took off the old one and ground off the bumper bracket on the frame horn. I also made the main bumper crossmember, although it is not in the picture.

-Also used Dirtlogic's great idea for turn signals and mounted them below the headlights. I don't think I used big enough LED's because they are not as bright as I would like during at the day. At night they are just fine.

Well I threw on the Tundra brakes today, pretty noticeable difference. I warped my old rotors in less than a month, there is not way I am warping these!
